Carlisle 2009

Also, I found nothing wrong with the food, the prime rib was great.

Prime Rib is usally a safe choice at most restaurants. :p

As far as the hotel facilities, you never know - some of the local hotels around here are very accomodating when it comes to small groups. Sometimes the only requirement is a minimum gratuity which is added to the tab. I'm just saying if they have flexible seating and will serve the menu fare with separate checks, then a minimum gratuity and a fee for a banquet facility isn't out of the question.

I agree that it's worth at least looking into. They may allow us to order off the menu, and they do have plenty of rooms. Then we wouldn't be pressured to leave in such a hurry.

Ok look guys, IMO eating at the hotel is not only a depressing environment but not much of a menu either. I ate dinner there last Winter during an ice storm and I can tell you, later I wished I had braved the storm and gone down the street.

I don't remember being rushed out of Sunnyside last year nor do I remember anything bad about the food. They've been very good to us for four years and all the other car clubs that have their banquets there.

Might I suggest that we stick to Sunnyside this year for Saturday and Market Cross for Friday. While at the hotel we can inquire about their facilities, hours, menu, prices, etc. and then make an informed decision for 2010.

I support the choice of Market Cross Pub on Friday and Sunnyside on Saturday.

Rose and I are looking forward to seeing everybody again this year!

Didn't get to go last year but plan to this year.. What about accommodations? I don't plan on camping. Any suggestions?

Yo0u better start looking now, most hotels close by are sold out already. Most of us stay in town at the Comfort Suites. You could try them but I doubt they have a vacancy at this point. Try a search on hotels.com or Travelocity to see if they have something, I'm sure they do.

Also, pre-registration is open for the show so sign up now! Click here and be sure to mention "Lincolns of Distinction" when you fill in the form.

Thanks, Leo! I'm registered for the event (using LOD) and found a really nice room at the Hotel Carlisle about 7 min from the grounds.
Looking forward to putting faces with the names.

BTW if anyone is going through Ohio on I-76 or Penn.. maybe we can hook up for the last 5 hours to Carlisle..

I checked into dinner at the Comfort Suites. They can't set anything up for us this year, because they have a wedding dinner Saturday night that will fill the entire banquet area. Their ordering at an event isn't really flexible, as they would only offer two menu choices (meals) at a banquet there.

Here's what I set up:
Friday June 5 (7:30) at the Market Cross Pub. They will put us in the same room as last year. We can have separate checks and order from the menu if under 20 show up (I think we had 18 last year). If 20 or more show up, they expect us to eat from their buffet.

Saturday June 6 (7:30) at the Sunnyside Restaurant. Again, we'll have the same room as last year. We will have separate checks and order from the menu. There will be a table for the trophies. I set it up as 20-25 members, but we can add tables in this room. We encourage all members to come if you want to, even if you decide on Saturday at the show.

Let me know if any of these arrangements aren't suitable (soon). Things fill up quickly for Friday and Saturday night of this show weekend in Carlisle.

I figured it was best to make the reservations now, and change later if needed ;)

We gotta have the eats set up :D

Sounds like those are our best options. Thanks for checking out the hotel and setting up reservations Rene.

This has probably been posted already, but does anyone have the # for the good hotel right down the street from the grounds?

Thanks, :D -J

This one?
Comfort Suites (PA266)
10 S. Hanover Street , Carlisle, PA, US, 17013
Phone: (717) 960-1000
Fax: (717) 960-1010

If that's the one on "the strip" of Carlisle... the one where they really didn't like us having our own booze on the patio... the one where even the desk clerk right around dawn was pretty impressed that we were still out there drinking like it was our mission in life... the one where we gave the homeless guy green birthday cake... the one where Isaac stole the Comfort Suites flag and then danced around in the street with it...

then yes...

I hope that's it, cause I'm booked at the hotel from Friday to check out Monday...

How long are we actually going to be there, are we leaving Monday?

:D -J

Yup, that's the place!
