The Aviator motor will put down like 265, 270rwhp hp to the wheels stock in a Mark VIII...
a HUGE cowl hood and a booster seat!
Torque gets you off the line, HP is for speed. At low speeds, HP barely matters. Not that we are talking about a geo metro verses a porsche, but thats the idea. At higher speeds, its all about HP. At 60 MPH a high HP vehicle can accelerate a lot faster than a sportier smaller lower HP vehicle.
Your right though, they are interrelated because with more HP comes more torque.
Dimensional analysis? Its physics 101. Time, distance, have nothing to do with it......
J, I don't understand how you can say torque matters but hp doesn't. They are interrelated. What makes a car move is actually torque at the wheels and RPM.
At 5250 rpm, both torque and HP are equally important.
I get jealous of you living near Livernois. They have some neat stuff tucked away over there Jeremy.
Ok... not sure how precise these are:
Aviator: 302 HP @ 5750rpm Base Mark: 280, LSC: 290
Aviator: 300 lb torque at 3250rpm Base Mark: 285, LSC: 290
edit: Yes, I know these are not at rear wheel...
