I was pulling up to a stop sign when I noticed a cruiser leave it's speed trap position on the side of the road and follow me. I turned and it followed for 20 feet then the lights come on and I pull over wondering what the problem is.
After waiting 5 minutes a female cop comes over and tells me my exhaust is really loud when I accelerate. um okay, I say it's just the flowmaster mufflers and they're legal. she says she can judge what is too loud so I shut up. then she asks about the too dark tint on the windows (stupid me I didn't roll them all the way down cuz it was in the pouring rain). I played dumb and said I didn't know what the shop did for the windows. She tests them and gets all upset when it reads 16% when it should be 35%. I truthfully said I didn't know about the $250 per window fine. seems a bit steep for windows but whatever.
they make me wait 10 more minutes in the car before the other cop gives me back my license and registration and only a warning to get rid of the tint, then threatening me about ever catching me again.
it's a good thing it was my last day at work and I wil never drive through Bedford, MA again because there is no way I'm touching the car, I paid too much to make it like that. I'd rather pay the fine next time.
I wondering why no one ever said anything to me before, like the other 2 times I've been pulled over (once at Carlisle). The exhaust has been like that for a year and the window tint for 2 years and always passed inspection with no problems. Maybe I just met some eager rookie cops, they were very young.
What could they really do about my exhaust? no law has passed yet (though they're trying) making aftermarket mufflers illegal.
