Friday Night 10-20.2006!!
Friday Night - Race Recap
After replacing my battery trying to solve a "bog on launch" situation, I returnd to LSMP for Friday Night Street Stock.
First time trial after a lengthy oil down/ clean up
RT----.0492
60----3.5604 {bogmonster reared it's ugly head again!!!)
330'--8.39
1/8 --12.16xo xo xo xo
MPH--64.21
I guess the battery wasn't the problem, even though the car ran and started ALOT better.
Symptoms are alot like a "bad connection with the chip".
So I crawled under the dash and yanked the chip out of the PCM.
2nd Time Trial
RT----.0488
60'---2.18
(BOGMONSTER IS SLAIN AND LEFT AT THE STARTING LINE)
330---6.13
1/8---9.34 (9.47 was previous best with new combo)
MPH---77.02
Feeling A LITTLE better because the car didn't BOG on the hit, nor try to crash into the wall on the 1-2 shift. Car went straight and felt like it was making good power!
Since the 9.34 was my fastest pass with the new combo, I just wrote that number on the window and nervously headed for the lanes for Round 1
Round 1
Douglas------Watts
9.34---Dial----9.28
.0157---RT-----.3790 (tree'd the crap out of the mustang!)
2.19----60-----2.18
6.15----330----6.14
9.6500--1/8--9.3747
56.71---MPH---76.73
MOV LEFT LANE---.1480 (hit the brakes hard with my 56 MPH)
.3100--offdial--.0947
With nearly .3 advantage on the tree, I ran hard to the other end and dropped the anchor and still crossed the finish line almost 2 car lengths ahead of the mustang. I compared the other run to this one, comparing the 330' times, this pass was .02 slower than my 9.34 run.
Had I ran it out, it would have been a 9.36 on a 9.34 dial in!
ON TO ROUND 2!
Since I had only ran .02 off on my last pass I decided to let the 9.34 ride!
Harris------Douglas (Mark VIII vs Mark VIII}
9.80---Dial----9.34
-.5000---RT---.1226 (Opponent Rolled thru the beams, and redlit!)
8.488----60----2.17
13.14----330----6.15
16.63----1/8--9.3750
71.45---MPH---76.70
MOV RIGHT LANE---5.172(ran it flat out, he'd redlit)
6.83--offdial--.0350
Round 2 netted a better 60' ET was .03 slower than my dial in.
.03 is too much to "give away" so I bumped my dial in from a .34 to a .35 and proceeded to round 3!!!
Round 3
Douglas------Barnes (Mark VIII vs Lightning Pick up)
9.35---Dial----7.99
.153---RT-----.179 (Zzzzzzzon the treee!!)
2.23----60-----1.70 ( I spun!)
6.26----330----5.11
9.498--1/8--7.9839
77.84---MPH---84.55
MOV RIGHT LANE---.1295 (I tree'd him, but he passed me.. BAD BAD!)
.1488--offdial--..0061 He broke out by the slimmest of margins, and he took the stripe with PLENTY of room to hit the brakes.
He goes to the pits, I go to the FINAL ROUND!!!
Since I had spun a bit on the hit, and we were brought right back to the lanes, I knew I needed to MOVE MY DIAL, and MOVE IT ALOT!
I'd just ran a 9.49, so I put a 9.48 on the window and went to the final round.
The #2 guy in points in street stock was my opponent in the final round.
FINAL ROUND
Koehler------Douglas
7.70---Dial----9.48
.0523---RT-----.0121 (tree'd the crap out of the Camaro!!!!)
1.69----60-----2.20
4.90----330----6.20
7.665---1/8---9.474
83.27---MPH---72.80
MOV RIGHT LANE---.0112
.-3100 offdial .-0947
Double Breakout!
I dabbed the brakes and crossed the stripe first by .0112, but broke out by .0947 and he broke out by .3100
