Emissions waiver

Hey craig just to clarify your rant and perhaps make you feel a bit better. HOV stickers for Priuses are no longer passed out ;). There are too many of them now. But if you had one on your car you can still use it.

Until 2010 or 2011, when they all expire.

It might help develop new technology for the future things if there are more regulatory standards for tailpipe emissions. Such as new technologies are mainly developed during ware fare and crisis. We all know egr and cats just make it harder for the engine to work on the standard vehicle, increasing restriction and raising overall temperature, thinning out and "capturing" carbon on the release.

How do they make it harder for the engine to work? Have you seen the backpressure in a tailpipe of a car made in the last 10 years? Virtually nonexistant. Also of the two items you just listed raise temperatures. EGR uses preburnt exhaust gases (inert gas) to lower combustion temperatures to reduce emissions of Oxides of Nitrogen. Cats cause very little restriction, and yes do raise the tempurature of the air passing through them by about 50 degrees F usually.

Emissions systems are set up to eliminate Hydrocarbons, Carbon Monoxide, and Oxides of Nitrogen. In turn in an ideal system you would get emissions of just Nitrogen, some Oxygen, and Carbon Dioxide. Hydrocarbons contribute to smog, which sure, go ahead and breathe that if you want, I'll pass. We all know Carbon Monoxide is deadly so probably would want to try to eliminate that too. I'm not sure what carbon you want to be breathing?

I personally don't like all the new emissions laws. Automobile's are already incredibly efficient, and I believe that there are other sources that most likely produce larger and worse harmful emissions but I don't see them being targeted by government. Maybe its because its not in the media and I'm not as in to those industries as I am into cars. Just be sure to know what your talking about when you post. I don't know if I misunderstood you, or what the situation is, but it doesn't appear to me that you know quite as much about emission devices as you may think. So if I am mistaken, I apologize, but I just wanted to understand what you meant by that section I quoted.

Here on base if you get caught on the phone its 30 day driving suspension for 1st offense, 2nd offense is 180 days, 3rd is permanent suspension of on base driving privilages.

Dang, that is AWESOME!! I wish it was that strict out on public streets/highways!

When I was in high school, one time a friend of mine had a Subway sub in one hand, a large Coke in the other, and his brother was steering from the passenger seat.

LMAO....I was doing that with a friend in my 1.8 Turbo 87 Sunbird when this lady pulled out infront of us. Me controlling the pedals and him with the steering wheel decided to turn right into the curb and bend my lower control arm. Needless to say, my wheel was against the fender so I couldn't drive home.

If the passenger is controlling the steering wheel, he becomes the driver, so if you crash, he would be at fault! LOL!

lol...Jesse!!!

I see it, but I wasn't any better, lol!

HOV stickers for Priuses are no longer passed out ;).

They just passed a new law too.....its a Misdemeanor if someone makes fraudulent stickers. Can you imagine...."You're going to jail for making fake low emission stickers for your prius." LOL

Jesse can't help you --- he's in Calif....I'm in Maryland!! LOL

I know people Bud, I know people.
