Fuel pump replacement

If I had not paid $90 for over-night shipping I would be less bitter... :)

There was not a SINGLE part from that kit that I used or needed. Save $40 and just get a Cobra Walbro as many have done.

my wife's fuel pump

my wife's fuel pump

or should I say, wife's car's fuel pump...

her mechanic called today about her 04 Alero, needs a new fule pump module, parts costs is $535. WHAT! 2 minutes of google tell sme it is more like $235.

he explains his "mistake" by saying he was looking at the parts for MY car, and that a 94 Mark pump is $535.

So my question is, how deeply must hell freeze over before I go back to this guy?

ok my real question is, is there such a thing as a five hundred dollar fuel pump for the Mark??

I *thought* the Ford OEM pump was also around $300 from a dealer. I really dont think it was ever as high at $500.

Pump was correct, filter was not. For now its fine. Come summer I may drop it and put the correct filter on and lower the pump back down. It seems to be fine the way it is. Its nice to have the car start on the first revolution no matter how cold!

At PepBoys the "fuel pump assembly", hanger, pump, float the whole "shebang" is 330.00.
Direct drop in....replaces EVERYTHING.

I could be wrong, the the entire assembly from Ford could easily be 500 dollars if the pepboys replacement parts are 330.

I was suprised at how much they were from the chain stores.

i did not modify the bottom part of the bracket, it fit on snuggly... my isolator boot tore as well so i didnt put it on, its only to silence the pump right?

If I remember correctly the bottom inlet on the pump really wont fit in there, which is why I modified the bottom of the bracket.

I hope when you pushed the pump between those two sheetmetal "Finger" that you didn't "slice, cut, pinch or otherwise damage the fuel inlet".

Also you mentioned that you thought you had the orignal grey plug wires and spark plugs in the car, that in itself will cause a "delay" in starting.

im pretty sure i didnt do anythign but bend the fingers because they are a bit flexible. that bottom of the walboro is thick plastic. yea i made my own line from the pump to the bracket its perfect. why would i have to use the pigtail when the stock one fits on there perfectly - honestly today im not having any problems with the cold start... however its pretty warm out today. i got enough info to be able to correct this on my own once i have the chedder to do it... thanks guys! ill let you know ultimately what it is, probably by the end of the week.

You need to use a special fuel line that is rated to be submersed in fuel.
Most lines available are not. The regular line will soften and split soon.
