Im looking to supercharge my mark viii, and I have heard that mustang corba 4.6 superchargers will fit but would like to make sure before i throw down the money. does any one know a specific charger that will fit? any help would be great!

To answer briefly, they 'fit' but require quite a bit of modifications and are a long way from a 'bolt on' application. You need to search for a "B" head application for the '96-'98 Cobras.

I didn't see what year you have. You have come to the right site as there are several Marks in this forum that have SC's. I am sure all will jump in sooner or later to welcome you and pass on advice.

I would tell you that if you want to go that route you need to sit down and make some decisions up front as to address what you are looking to achieve. The centrifical and the twin screw units predominate.

I would also recommend that you plan on rebuilding everything behind the motor all the way thru replacement of the rear gears. You should also plan on a chip and dyno tune by a competent shop. I have no idea where you live, but I am sure we can find some one for you. Headers are expensive, and it will depend on what performance level you plan on attaining, and personal preference. Also plan on a new high volume fuel pump in your tank.

There are no direct order bolt on units available from any one. all need some kind of modifications of sorts. All can be bought in tuner kit form so you can piece them together. Another option would be to buy a complete Cobra engine with SC and all complete. I think in terms of a budget you may get lucky with about $12,000 in expenses, but that is certainly on the low side of things as we had no discussion on engine upgrades.

Get yourself an SHM book on the 4.6 and read thru as there is lots of technical info to help you make some decisions.

Vortech and Kenne Bell make direct bolt ons, but I only know of Vortech kits for the Mark. Kits would include all the little things and brackets that are custome to the Mark application. Kenne Bell is a better unit, but it requires you to find a shop that will make the extras, get a new hood for clearance, and find a top notch tuner to program it all.

A rear mounted turbo can also be installed (from STS Turbo), though like the Kenne Bell, you'd need to get the extras and tuning.

There are other units out there, but the three above are 50 state smog legal. (Don't know where you're from).
 
says it right in the ad thread, 16k. Although if someone had cash ready for a quick sale I'm sure it would be hard to say no a little less. You wouldn't be able to build this car for that price that is for sure.
 
Sorry...I didn't go back and see that this was the same car .... dang, this market MUST suck right now! I even heard that GM and Chrysler are talking!
 
yea, the old chrysler products would go up in value and brand new ones would drop in value!!!!(sorry the ford vs chevy came out in me!or we could end up with a vipette and challengarro)
 
That car represents an outstanding value, as I have been around it when it was located near me. If I had some extra coins I would have that car in a heart beat. It has great genes !!!

Ford has been putting "hemis" in their cars for years.

All a 'hemi' is is an engine with the intake valves opposite the exhaust valves (like Mark VIIIs), rather than on the same side. Basically means more power for the same displacement.
 
I know this, I'm just talking about marketing hype more or less, but a corvette has a pushrod engine still, so no OHC type design.

Partly right, but the "hemi" stands for "hemi-spherical", which is what the cylinders are. They have a slight oval shape to them instead of your basic round cylinder. Then they plop the spark plug dead center for the best combustion.
