LS-1, they stopped making the LT-1 in 1996 with the 25th (?) anniversary white/orange striped camaro's.

98 was the first year of LS-1 in F-bodys and 97 was the first year of LS-1 in Vettes.

I don't know why Chevy didn't continue with modular motors , I've seen this ZR-1 at US41 2 years ago

You're right, 97 was that 25th anniversary and the last Camaro they used the LT-1 in. I didn't know the Vettes started using it in 97 though.
 
That LT-5 is a nice engine for it's time. (with the exception of the nikasil issue)

Edit: I read / heard they stopped the DOHC program due to the higher manufacturing cost and the fact that it was both wide and top heavy. I guess Chevy figured the more compact, lighter and cheaper push rod design was more than adequate for Corvettes.
