Help me choose my subs.

RE: Help me choose my subs.

Would i still be able to use the factory grill?? so that i don't have an ugly looking hole surrounding the 6.5s otherwise.. i'll stick to the 5x7 kappas up front as well.

RE: Help me choose my subs.

Audiobahn is yuppie talk. To audiophiles it means pyramid. aaaarghhhhhhhh. My fingers started burning for typing that name. Got to go sooth the pain, I must go rub my kicker subs.:)

heh, i like how he used the term "audiophile" and then started talking about kicker.
[/div]

I thought I was the only one that caught that.

Kicker should not even be used in the same paragraph as audiophile.

Just to let you guys know RE subs are built here in vegas. My boy is one of the head hanchos over there and I can get pretty good prices.
I'm probably going to use one of their 12s in my Lexus.Their going to give me one in trade for doing some work for them so why not huh??

RE: Help me choose my subs.

Which series? They have I think 4-5 different lines they build there.

I saw two 12s in their "SPL" line do 160 in his Explorer.I believe its called the XXX series.

I'm going with the series "below" that one which is a whole lot more musical sounding sub.
I'll check prices for you, just let me know what you plan on doing with the car.

RE: Help me choose my subs.

The XXX is the best all around sub the make IMHO. Supreme Sound Quality as well and the most X-max out of any sub on the market. They also have the MT for pure SPL and the SX and RE lines if I remember correctly. I've been wanting a pair of 15" XXX's on my rear decklid for a while now, but the V-10 has been getting my attention of late.

Who there do you know? I've seen them around on message boards, they seem like cool guys.

RE: Help me choose my subs.

i just joined the image dynamics team with a pair of idmax10's. ive gotta find a nice home for my eD 12A. it'd be a crime to let this thing just sit around. im also the proud owner of some tru tech amps. :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

RE: Help me choose my subs.

Oh you guys are killing me here. Personally I feel Kicker is good for the price. I know that there is equipment better than Kicker available to purchase. I didn't take your replies the wrong way. Shoot I even laughed at it myself. Just remember guys a lot of are new members here are younger than us. They might not have a great paying job that allows for buying high $$$ stuff or a mommy/daddy to buy it for them.

My first stereo consisted of a Pioneer KE-1414 cassette player, alaron(sp) graphic eq, 2 pyle 10's and a Pyramid PB-290 amp. The 10's were mounted in a box I bought from one of those traveling stereo sales. Back then I thought it sounded great. I know better now. As you can tell I have had experience with crappy stuff. BTW that was fifteen years ago. I think...

I have heard of the Adire's; but as far as I know no one in my area carries them. After visiting their website I could be persuaded. WOuld love to hear them first. I'm not familliar with RE who are they and do they have a website? Locally the best sub going is JL audio's 13w7. I have heard a few... great sound and good response but to me $700 is still pricey.

Personally I would still recommend Kicker to anyone at least for my experience with them. Maybe I received the bashing because I used the word audiophile. Sorry! It just seems strange but didn't you guys have some Kicker equipment in your cars also?

RE: Help me choose my subs.

RE uses some of the technology developed by adire in their XXX subs (the xbl2 tech) they can be found at www.reaudio.com. They have some simply awesome gear. The W7 is good, but just way too overpriced. You can get two XXX's for the price, and the SQ between the XXX (or brahma) really isn't that noticeable to anyone but a judge. I beleive the XXX will get louder too.

My first system was the alpine head unit I still have, a memphis ST3004 and 2 pairs of kicker resolutions. Then I switched to Rainbow Pro 3 ways and a kicker 800.4, and added a kicker L7. Now I have the ampman audio (aka RE 1500.1) sub amp, (the first one ever made) I have been planning on upgrading the kicker sub and amp for a year or two now, just never got around to it.

"Bang for the Buck", kicker is pretty good, I got the L7 for 190 brand new. But it does have it's limits. It's not a SQ sub by any stretch, and it has very little excursion. I actually rather enjoyed the resolutions, for $150 they got hella loud and sounded pretty good.

RE: Help me choose my subs.

I'll have to double check with him on which series was what, but I know he said their Bad boy SPL subs SQ was ####.Its designed to do one thing and thats play LOUD!

RE: Help me choose my subs.

ive got the t100.4 and t200.2. thats just gonna be my front stage right there. ive got some focal polykevlar 8's that are going into the doors which are being fed by the 200.2, some morel wr4's in kicks along with some morel tweets (still need to decide which model tweets) and theyll be sharing the 100.4. ive got 2 idmax10s and ive been talking to a guy who wants to sell his arc 2500, a guy who wants to sell his arc 1500d-r, another guy who wants to sell his dls classic, and a guy who wants to get rid of a ppi pc21400. decisions decisions. this is all going in my jeep btw (future jeep i should say). i still need to upgrade my HU as well. im thinking eclipse 8454 or alpine 9835. both of those would take care of my crossover and eq needs.
