how fast have you driven?

Mark VIII: 150MPH

CTS-V: 135 MPG. I was not racing a built 03 Cobra on the freeway. Man That Cobra was Fast. The owner said he was putting 700HP down to the ground.

I've buried the 140 at an undisclosed location. It was scary, and not necessary to ever do again as long as I live. I just had to make sure that the tuner indeed removed the speed limiter. When I saw it climb past the 124 mark and keep going and going, I knew something was up. The only thing limiting it now is engine rpm and wind drag on the car and with overdrive, these cars can really fly without a speed limiter. That was with 4.10 gears :D

I think it was about 140-150 in a 911 (not mine) and about around 4am, many years ago. 120+ in the Mark a few years ago.

J we have to get out to Sac,

those Cadillacs get fantastic gas mileage huh? :p

The DTS bounces the limiter at 123, but it would be happy to go faster... plus the car is still in 3rd gear...

my 160 was Corvette territory, to prove a point, the first run was just leaving it in 6th gear and going from 75 to 160. The second time I dropped it down to 4th and went through the gears... 160 happened way faster. BTW, car was totally composed and smooth at serious speed, no drama at all.

I was gonna comment on the 135 MPG. :) You get thanks for that.

160...that's crazy, sounds fun though. I was doing 143 with a cop car trying to catch up....!

It's all about the car...

DTSax will clearly go faster then 123, but even at 100+ it feels like you're trying to force something shaped like a brick through the air. It's not uncomfortable, the car is like driving a vault, but at serious speed, you know it lacks a certain aerodynamic quality...

I had my red MK8 in the 130 neighborhood once, and the car felt like it was ready to fly apart at the seams...

The Vet is like driving a missile, it feels like you could set the cruise control at 150 and drive it across the country (you actually can set the cruise at 150)...

Anyway, it's not hard to go real fast for a short amount of time if you've got a big wide open road. I know the local Viper club likes a particular stretch around here where they really let those cars loose sometimes, and that is for miles at speed, not just a quick run up and down...

Edit : first time I ever got to triple digits in my own car.

I don't really know. All the speedometer numbers quit to early and the one time I had GPS, I didn't think to look at it.

My most memorable was many, many years ago in a 1965 Buick Wildcat. The speedo on that car spanned the entire drivers side of the instrument panel. If I recall, it only registered up to 120 mph, but it would accelerate WAY past that... so far I was tempted to open the glovebox and see if I could see the speedometer needle. LOL :D

My CTS-V gets about 24mpg on the freeway doing 70mph not 130mph.

The CTS-V is not limiter but the fast you can go is 168mph.
