how fast have you driven?

105 or 110 in the Mark before I wussed. The Kid says he's gone faster in it but won't tell me how fast (you know, because I get mad about those things???). Unk in the 83 and 88 Mustangs, pinned the speedo.

Only 125, but it was in my '76 Grand Torino Elite back in 1982. A huge whale of a car with a 429 Police Interceptor I had installed for cheap. The thing got about 8 MPG on a good day.

No idea how fast in the Mark, but less than the Elite. I'm a wuss.

The fastest that I ever took either of my old Mark VIIIs up to was 110mph.
I just got the Jag up to ~125mph the other day racing my dad's motorcycle (not on the highway).
One of my old customers at Starbucks had a Mercedes SL55 AMG that he let me drive, but I only hit about 140mph (on the highway) before I chickened out. I wouldn't even have taken it up that high but he told me to "stop being a prepubescent girl and DRIVE."

It's all about the car...

DTSax will clearly go faster then 123, but even at 100+ it feels like you're trying to force something shaped like a brick through the air. It's not uncomfortable, the car is like driving a vault, but at serious speed, you know it lacks a certain aerodynamic quality...

I had my red MK8 in the 130 neighborhood once, and the car felt like it was ready to fly apart at the seams...

I can personally attest to these, both with Joe either absent or unconscious. :D

(I pegged the red Mark chasing after a late-model WS-6 somewhere in Ohio, I think, on our way to St. Louis back in '05. :) )

My fastest was 145 mph in my '95 Z28, only because my '94 Mark was limited at 135 (which I found out racing a similar-era SL500). My Mazda I'd had into the 130s before, but never wound out all of 6th gear. (They will get up into the 150s and run out of revs.)

Well the Mark didn't wake him up clearing 130, so it couldn't have been that rough, at least not at the time. (I think later the driveshaft started getting wobbly.)

I had The Mark somewhere in the 130's after crossing the finish line at the 1/4 mile drag strip. The more challenging part is stopping the car from the 130's before running out of road lol

In the mid 80's I was in Germany a half a dozen or more times on business traveling northern and southern Germany whilst in a Mercedes rental. Outside of the major towns the speed limit would often be unlimited for substantial lengths of travel. In those areas I often would cruise at 250 KPH, but keeping a tight eye on the rear view mirror for flashing lights of some super car that was doing a lot faster than I. It is incredible how fast some of those cars truly are, and how much you have to stay on your toes so as to avoid a collision from the rear, of coarse you have to be vigilante of slower cars that are in front of you as well, so you use your head lights to signal them to clear the lane as well. One thing about running at those speeds is you don't do it with junk tires, and that's what scares the crap out of me when I am passing some of the trailer trucks around here ( watching the cap peel off and heading at you). It certainly was an experience.

My SL Mercedes has a tire pressure sticker inside the fuel filler door that say to pump up the tire pressure an extra 10 pounds from normal when traveling at high speeds.

Here's a video of a SL 320 like mine around 150-160 mph. lol Not bad for a 4200 pound six banger :) Can't say that about the clown driving at that speed in the video though. Hope he pumped the tires before doing that stunt

Never mind I answered my own question. Sorry there's no delete button to delete your own posts.

Lol let's drive as fast as we can into a huge blind spot. Whould have been sweet if they were all pumped up and then some lambo blows by them. Lol!

I tagged my '92 5.0's needle a couple of times. The speedo reads 140 and the needle was past that so I guess I would say I am not sure.140-145 I guess.

The funniest moment was when I did it on the freeway with friend in the car.He was always talking about how fast he had just drove his Moms car the day or week before. It was an old Corolla I think.Anyway,I got on the gas and just watching his big ass start pressing back with his legs and freak out was too funny. He was searching for things to grab onto and almost pulled back the e-brack a couple of times. Now that would have been a hell of a ride.

J, that is exactly what I meant when I said I had to keep my eyes glancing for the flashing head lights in the rear view mirror. Those guys come up on you so fast at the speeds they run at. I almost (not quite) felt like a senior citizen at the speeds I was traveling. LOL

Why would it tell you to over inflate them? Wouldn't that cause them to have less traction?
