I went and did the swap to coil springs this past weekend. Between the instructions from Struts-r-us, and from both M8 sites, all went well and quick. I wanted to give a shout out to Craig(BlackIceLSC) for being around to answer questions and alleviate some concerns I had. I think he was getting ready to stop answering me. ;( lol.
I am happy with it so far and I have learned a few things also. If you should go this route think carefully about ordering the lowered version. I wasn't prepared for it to be as low as it really is. That was one of the concerns Craig helped me with. You can stick about 2-3 fingers between the tire and wheel well. My car sits about 5 inches off the ground. I was next to someone in a newer Cavalier today they sat a full head higher than me.
Just ask Joe how low my car is he looked at it earlier today.
The handling is pretty good. I've been putting it tthrough the paces since I finished it Sat afternoon. Another word of caution to those that might be getting ready to go the lowered route.............WATCH OUT FOR SPEED BUMPS AND BIG CURBS. There is a section of town that has some curbs that when you pull in in a regular vehicle it hurts to hit the curb at 5mph let alone a lowered mark viii.
WHen I say curb I mean the rounded part of someone's driveway or parking lot entrance not the squared off part along the road. I had to say this because I know someone would have to be a smart-alec.
To those who don't agree with my decision to switch over.....Get o
ver it! This was a truly financial decision. The whole left side dropped without notice, whenever it wanted too. I would have to start my car about 4-5 times to get it to rise up when I wanted to leave somewhere. Only to have it drop about 5 minutes down the road. The old system was totally unreliable. Coil struts=$465 shipped new air suspension from Eddie would have been around $1400-1500 shipped for everything.
Yes I would have loved to have continued using the Air suspension and I would have bought it all from Eddie Spinx(GREAT GUY) due to previous dealings with him. I just couldn't afford to go his route at this time....maybe at a later date maybe I might switch back. I don't know.
