I wrecked my CE

It happened on the way to work, in bumper to bumper traffic, on a long bridge on I-75 in Detroit.
A van was braking in front of me, then all of a sudden he swerved to the left, braked harder, and stopped.
I couldn't move to the right because there was a car there. I hit his chrome bumper on his right side with my driver's front corner.

I got out and apologized, as I knew it was my fault. He said we should see if anyone was hurt in front of him. I didn't know it, but the car in front of him hit the car ahead of him.

They were OK, so we went back to the back of his van. I told him we need to get off of the bridge, because there was no shoulder, and the traffic was backing up, possibly causing more accidents.

I had some cash and I offered him 100 bucks for the damage to his bumper, he took it, shook my hand, I got off the bridge and went home to cry.:frown:

Man, I really hate to see these kinds of posts....

Glad to see you're ok at least.

I know it just happened, but what are your plans for it? I hope you can fix it...

Good luck!

I'm hoping to fix it.

I'm hoping to find 98 White Pearlescent parts. A header panel, hood, and fender. That would save me from the expense of paint.

Oh Bill, so sorry! Can't believe how much damage there is! But yes, always good when no one gets hurt.

Oh no!!!! Not another one!

You know I feel your pain. :(

Like the others said, I'm glad no one was injured. That damage though looks like it may require more than meets the eye once the bumper cover and fender are off.

Good news is you have a spare Mark VIII or two... or three.

April fools!!!! Probably not. :( Crappy Bill....it's definitely worth fixing, glad you're physically okay!

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, no April fools joke here.

The radiator support and frame for the fender are bent a bit, but not too bad. The ABS seems to still be fine, and no warning lights.

It does help to have spare Mark VIII's though. I already swapped the insurance to the green one, and just now, took the 10 spokes and new tires off the CE and put them on the 97.:)

Sorry to see that Bill, but as all have said before atleast no one was hurt and the car appears fixable.

Glad you're O.K. Bill !
Sorry to see the damage - but now that we know you're seeking a parts car, hopefully one will be available soon..

Glad the ABS isn't fubared. Mine was hit there and it seems OK too but the ABS module is somewhat smashed (I have a spare if it needs it) and the HCU bracket is bent but no damage appears to have been done to the braking system. I haven't checked for codes, but I have a Star II tester on the way.

Also note that the battery tray may be 'trapped'. The fender suport hopefully can be straightened.

Long story short, there's a lot of stuff tucked in behind the fender and bumper!

omg how sad, Glad you are ok very sorry for the car, I too hate these posts

Sorry im late, Havent been on in a bit, just read the post. I was hoping for an aprils fool joke but...nope. Glad to hear youre ok. Join our club of the scratch and dent club. Well be holding a meeting down at the local bar sat night.

Looks bad but if it didnt get into the header panel i think youll be ok with all bolton parts. Just dont let the insurance company talk ya into totlaing it unless the frame is bent. Fix it out of your pocket and make them reimburse you. I learned the hard way. They boned me, thanks state farm.
Well im sure youll get her up and running in no time and you got two other pretty ones to cruise when you go salvage yard hopping. :) Bring the gatorade, it gets hot out there all day long pulling parts.
