in order to get to the box itself does it require taking off the intake? or is there som way to get to it that is much easier?

I can't even find the control unit in AllData. Where is it located?

Jesse would tell you to lift the body off the engine and get it!!!! LOL

its mounted on a bracket on the back of the driverside head, same place the dpfe sensor is on 93-96 mark VIII's. you could change it on the car, but it will require taking the hood off, then pulling out the wiper motor assembly and linkage. which isnt that hard, i did it to remove my valve covers in my 98 to powder coat them.

Ahhhh.....if I could find it in AllData, I would be able to get some instructions, but I couldn't. I'm sure the IMRC box for a Cobra will have a different harness/plug.

It's mounted in a different position in the cobra but I think it's the same box. Not 100% sure though. The IMRC plates on the 98 Cobra are the exact same though.

yeah im pretty sure they are the same box the only thing that is different is the braket that holds it on, would i be able to just take that off and put the one from my mark on it so i can mount it on the back of the cylinder head?

See the picture of the connector....it has the color of the wires that cordinate with each position. Also, the shape of the connector, so if shape or wires are different, you won't be able to use the Cobra IMRC box.

Try finding a wrecker near you, even a Pick n Pull type where you go in and find the part you need and buy it for 20 bucks!
