Interested in a "Racing Team"?

This has been on my To Do list for quite some time and some recent discussion in another thread prompted me to put up the suggestion.

I want to initiate an official "Lincolns of Distinction Racing Team". Several of us run their Mark VIIIs at the track and we have ongoing lists showing their acheivements. This proposal would take it a step further.

I propose we start a roster of racers who would submit their timeslips to an annual listing. We can include 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile stats along with the all important sixty foot times. The list would be purged each year and a new one started.

I would be willing to provide official decals to sponsor such involvement. :)

The "Racing Team" concept would encourage comraderie and competition to incite each racer to regularly run their cars at the track and improve the performance of both the driver and the vehicle. Who know's, we might actually get some of these garage queens and daily drivers in our community to participate!

So what do you think? Should we give it a go? What other suggestions might be added?

We need to order some tee shirts again anyways. ;)

I got a fair amount of luck, and WON alot of races wearing my LOD "good luck" shirt!

LOL, those shirts were a big seller at my house, but when everyone goes to the track with me it's cool when all of us are 'wearing the uniform'! LOL

Yeah, Tee Shirts, another thread for another day. ;)
 
As far as decals are concerned, anyone have a suggestion as to the size?

I'm thinking about the size of a 3x5 index card. Something to fit nicely into the rear corner of the rear side glass.

I'm in, already got the shirt. That decal size sounds good, would it be a cling like the club membership decal?
 
I like the idea. I haven't been to the track in ages, though.

I'd suggest - if it's possible to work out - team events held locally. ie, we need more meet-ups at the track or have a track portion when we have local meets.

A really cool thing would be to have perhaps an annual LOD Racing Team meet at a track, perhaps changing location every year, and seeing if the LOD can get special runs in all together or something.

Oh, how about flags or something for those in the stands to wave our racing team on to victory?
 
If we get enough interest, sure we could include events! It may take a bit of momentum to build though.

I'm trying not to LOL, 'cause I know you're serious. Just the thought of Mrs. Driller in the stands waving a flag makes me laugh. :D
 
I WANT a shirt!!! Those are sweet! The decal size sounds good too, heck, if I had my Lincoln I'd sport a huge one on the back window but without the black.

I don't have any tracks by me though. :(

Sign up requirements? How 'bout this...

The only requirement will be a verified track run in a Lincoln by a dues paying member of the club.

So far it looks like the interested parties are...

Now assuming we are all grownups, I'd propose a verified run means a pic or scan of the timeslip showing the date and the name of the track. Do we need more than that?

Let's get all the details ironed out before we kick this off. :)
 
Im in! Once i get the 4.10 installed and a couple of other things taken care of i will be going to Sac raceway.
 
Im in! Im with j on the full back window too. That was actually my first thought when i saw the decal. Looks good keep us informed on the progress
