I know I cant be the only one who thought of this. Find a Mark VIII that maybe has a problem or two, perhaps a 93 in need of a trans rebuild or some airbags. Strip all the weight out of it that you possibly can and make it a cheap weekend racer to take to circle tracks, drag strip and auto x events/tune days.
Has anyone investigated this seriously or done it?
I figure a set of gears, a lot of weight reduction (I mean A LOT), a shot of nitrous, and a built trans would make a pretty reliable and quick/fun car to do this with. Even if you don't break out of the 13s just the excitement of driving a car that'd be significantly lower, lighter weight, no sound deadening, A/C, or Dash would be fun.
I am thinking I could get away with this for like $2000-2500, does that sound reasonable to you if I spent $700 on the car?
I miss the days of having a project and having my supercharged Mark VIII but dont want to get the reliability problems of a Supercharged Mark VIII or really the cost.
