RE: LOD Summer Bash

I shall be there.

Apparently Hubby is coming too, so the kid might not come with.

Hubby wants to know if anyone wants to golf on Saturday. I want to know if anyone would want to install gears on my car on Saturday.

Will that be just a swap of the rear center section complete or the whole installation of traction-lock, gears, bearings, etc... inside your current center section?

Ummmm... I don't know. Whatever you guys tell me I need to do. ;) I suppose this lack of knowledge is why we haven't attempted it ourselves. :7 If it's going to interfere with fun, I can wait. If it would be a group fun thing to do, I'll get the parts I need.

RE: LOD Summer Bash

IF you got a 3.73 pumpkin w/28 spline from 5 star we could put that in. As far as doing a gear swap on your existing rearend... That will take too much time.

When did THIS happen? You're really starting to piss me off. :p

RE: LOD Summer Bash

You!, I've bought a bunch of parts for my car and ran out of money to get them installed!!!

RE: LOD Summer Bash

I'm with Joe, I wouldn't mind helping with a simpler swap of the complete center section - but a complete gear install is a bit much.

You bring an excellent topic to the forefront however. Some of us 'modders' could line up some different projects for a group install on Saturday. We can solicit and offer help. It would be a perfect opportunity to do some real test 'n tune - race it Friday night, mod it Saturday and race it Saturday night! I know I would be game.

RE: LOD Summer Bash

See, that's the thing David. Hubby doesn't want me paying my usual shop for a probably high priced installation, but told me I can get the gears if I can find someone to install them for me. Besides, how can he complain if I let him go golfing...

And Mark -- :B I'd never be able to compete against your car stock for stock, and you know it. Besides I have to keep up with JP.

RE: LOD Summer Bash

Hubby must really love golfing!!!

The only reason I don't attempt certain things is 1. very few people to help me (or able to work around my schedule), 2. I don't feel comfortable doing certain things in fear of screwing them up, 3. some things require certain tools that I don't have and don't want to invest it for a one time installation.

I could do my usual watching others work on cars, with the occasional trips out to get Hog Ring pliers and drinks and food. Mark. :+

RE: LOD Summer Bash

if anyone is thinking of upgrading to a walbro 190 or bigger fuel pump,or having egr problems i can help in these areas. fuel pump would take a couple of hours on the ground(no air tools) and it depends on what the egr system would need as to the time frame. i just installed a new egr flow sensor and im getting 3-5 mpg better on fuel! the check engine light would come on as soon as i started the car.

That's a good one! There's always someone who needs a fuel pump. How 'bout EGR delete? I may be interested in that particular mod.

Here's some other project ideas I came up with:

UnderDrive Pulley(s)
Pulley/Tensioner/Serpentine Belt Replacement
Spark Plug change w/ 'Nitrous Mod'
R&R Plug Wires
Sensor Lowering
Spider Valve Install
Thermostat Replacement
Brake Rotors and/or Brake Pads
White Face Gauge Install
Upgrade EATC
Intake Silencer Removal
Intake Tube/MAF/Air Filter Mods
Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Install
Transmission 1-2 Accumulator Upgrade

I think most if not all of the list encompasses projects quite doable in an afternoon. I'm sure there's a lot more. So if you have a certain expertise to offer, or are interested in a certain mod, or are just interested in learning basic Mark VIII maintenance and would like a little help, just put it up for discussion. :D

So what parts you got David? ;)

RE: LOD Summer Bash

ANyone interested in helping install a set of Kooks 3/4 length headers.......... anyone. If not I'll have to figure out something else. Joe could I persuade you and your expertise for a different date to help in this area. How about a JMOD party on Saturday? Jp maybe you and I could do some electric water pumps. I'm thinking about getting one after see Joe's in use. Just need help on wiring the relay. I might also be attemdting to change out the headlights in my Gen1. Either projector system or maybe running the headlights from a 97 cutlass supreme.

RE: LOD Summer Bash

Not a bad idea, JP. I have a couple things that still need to be installed. The 255 Walbro just came in, I would need help replacing the t-stat with a 180, and I believe I'm ordering some UD pulleys. I know for a fact I'm going to be getting some of these installed before this meet(especially the fuel pump), but maybe if I don't get a few done, you guys could help.

This sounds like it's going to be one h3ll of a meet. Let's get some more info on places to stay (hotels, etc...)

RE: LOD Summer Bash

I think we all usually have a couple of things that need to be installed. Speaking of T-stats, I have one I've had for 6 months and haven't installed yet! I just got the shift kit and am looking to get it in asap. I just ordered oxygen sensors the other day and am thinking of gutting the cats. I've been scheming on a different CAI, a coolant fan over-ride switch and on top of all that I'm thinking of underdrive pulleys. ::roll::

I also hope to have at least some of this accomplished before the meet, but I'm sure I could find something to bring along to do and I wouldn't mind to help others where I could.

Ryan, just give a shout if you want any electrical help. Yeah, I'd like to do the electric water pump too, but I'm not sure if I can swing that just yet. You know, somehow I just don't think headers is a liesurely afternoon mod. LOL! But I think the J-mod is doable if someone has expertise in that area.

Eli's working on the hotel issue.

RE: LOD Summer Bash

OK, so as it turns out we need a block of at least ten rooms to qualify for the group rate. I am unsure of what the group rate is, they have to let me know after I confirm we want ten rooms. I only see seven on our list who need rooms. Might we have more people?

RE: LOD Summer Bash

Well, I could go for a sensor lowering. I know it's about as simple as can be, but I'll never do it on my own. Too damned lazy.

Well Mark, I don't know if we can help with the lazy part, but to sensor lower your Mark, about all we need is a jack, jackstand(s), ramps(easier for the rear), lugwrench, 3/8" metric socket set, electric drill and bits.

Next. :D
