So since this is in the glovebox I am not getting another Mark unfortunately :(.

But I am thinking about replacing the Vette with something else. I have some reliability concerns with the Vette... and me liking to change it up and experience other cars :D

Here are my requirements.

Price 20-30k preferably less than 25k.
Decent Gas mileage mid 20s on the freeway.
Good interior quality.
Good performance 6 seconds 0-60 or less.
More or less reliable, I don't want to wrench on cars this much anymore it is not fun when you have to waste money on factory defects and not your own modifications.
Needs to be 2000 or newer.
I don't want a 350z or a G35, and No GTO.

Here are some of the players that I have outlined.
01-03 E46 M3 (Some reliability concerns and expensive maintenance)
02-04 E46 330CI or I (But they are a bit too common and I would be tempted to get an automatic)
04 Audi S4
05-06 GT mustang (A bit too common and a step down from the vette though)
06/07 Mazdaspeed3 Riceburner and bad gas mileage for what it is :(
06 Chrysler 300 SRT 8. It is fast, it looks great, but I am not sure about reliability... and gas mileage is terrible... (probably my 2nd favorite choice after the E46)

Had that before... mine had 42k miles when I bought it and 50k miles when I sold it...

Too many one off problems... and I want something faster...

RS4 is super expensive... but it is an awesome car... for the same money I can roll in a new 335i coupe... 12s through the 1/4 after a $500 software change... and BMW styling ...

I would throw on a set of wheels like these...

damn!!!

Chrysler Crossfire.

~60% Mercedes-made parts.

Looks awesome and is fast.

Throw on a turbo, and it'll outperform your Vette.

Cross-fire is an older SLK.. not too fond of it... plus it is kinda small. I want something larger than the vette with a backseat preferably...

And I don't want to modify the car after I get... unless it is was rims or something like that. I believe they came supercharged from the factory... SRT-6 was the official name...

How about a Jaguar XKR. It is supercharged you can get one for under $30k and they have a back seat...kinda smallish though. That is going to be my next keeper!

BTW... they look great with rims!

You're a difficult man to please.

Just get another vette. Go buy a Z06 off an old man and just drive it.

Or a GTO. But you said you want a GTO. It's nice and bland, i want one, but it's not in the budget anytime soon.

What about a CTS-V? They're hitting the used market, in your price range. 400 HP LS6 or LS2 depending on the year, T56, RWD w/ IRS, 4 seats, styling that doesn't say "me too" but doesn't say "boy racer" either. That would be my first choice, even over a GTO, but like I said, not in my budget at the moment.

Oh... I don't think you want a BMW or Audi. Super expensive maintenance, and repairs. Just rediculous. Germans do things in unnecessarily complicated ways, just because they can. I don't want to have to replace a central door lock pneumatic pump. Electric solenoids are fine by me, thanks.

XKRs made my previous list but they are pricy to maintain and a bit too "old man" for me. Good choice though, they are great cars.

how about a GTO? or a marauder.
GTO maayyybe... but they handle worse/get worse gas mileage and look worse.

Go take this for a ride and let me know what you think. I dig my beater :) Rides 100 times better than my Mark.

Hmm I am sure I would love an SL... but I drove in my boss' 96 S430... and it scared the **** out of me... The car has 105k miles on it and here are the things that I found broken by just driving in it for 1 hr.

1. Rear Shocks were out and the car was bouncing bad.
2. Power mirrors no longer work
3. Car almost overheated when the AC was turned on
4. Air bag light on
5. Strange vibration on the freeway.
6. Her power window didn't work anymore and she had to push it up by hand... and DAMN that glass is like 1 inch thick!!!!
7. Steering wheel cracked and worn out.

But from the outside the car looks great with shiny black paint... I was very impressed that it didn't fade one bit... comparing it to my 98 Crown Victoria with 155k miles.... I am not so sure I want an S class....

Take a test drive in an Audi A6 with the 4.2L V8.

Yea I don't know what is wrong with me when it comes to cars... I just like to switch em up often.

I will probably not get another Vette... and why would I ? Mine has 24k miles on it and it has the best color combo (IMO)... it is plenty fast for me and has all the right mods...

I just want something different and perhaps something with a more up to date interior and more refined drivetrain.

Audi... yes I don't think I will go that route... but BMW is cheaper to maintain than you may think... I have had a 92 E36... and it was a great car.... I will probably go the BMW route than anything else in the near future....

Wow I didn't know they were that cheap... that said they are certainly a bit on the exotic side... I don't think I will feel comfortable driving that car anywhere...

How about a Toyota Prius?

The people that own them think that they're "sporty".:D
