Ok.........not that we asked....but you left out this VERY important detail in earlier posts....

You're trying to listen to "burned" CDs on a CD player that wasn't made to play "burned" CDs!!!! Ofcourse they're going to skip bro! Ever try watching a DVD in a Walkman? Not going to work too well, haha.

Sounds to me like you have multiple issues........dirty Laser Lense, messed up cartridge(NO CD error fixed by ramming folded carboard in it, lol), and trying to play burned CDs.

Remember....back in 1994 there wasn't such a thing as a burned CD, lmao.

Yeah, I kinda figured that burned cds were a problem, the storebought ones were skipping bad too, but not AS bad.
This morning, I ran the lens cleaner disc, and it seems to be better than it was. The right front speaker is working better too. I don't know what in normal for this car, I have never had a car with a cd changer. Is it normal for it to skip sometimes? It seems pretty random how it skips..sometimes I will hit a big bump and it won't skip, and sometimes a small bump will cause a skip. Also, it seems like it is better when it is warmer.

I fixed my old Pioneer 6 disc changer by going inside and cleaning the laser lens with alcohol on a Q-tip. It was not reading some discs and skipping a lot too. Oh and worse than skipping, repeating - over 'n over 'n over ....etc. Worked well.

I thought it was better...on the ride home I found out otherwise. I think I will try alcohol on a q-tip next, if that doesn't work, I am buying a cd changer.

You're getting there Frank :) With a little persistance you may have saved yourself some money, but if not, it was worth the try right? Let us know if you get a changer...I installed a Sony Xplode where my stock changer was and kept my factory head unit so I my car doesn't attract stereo theifs. It was a very easy install.

cleaned the lens yesterday, only skipped twice today on the way to work, but that was over 2 of those mean boston potholes. hopefully it is fixed, and yes, definately worth trying...i hate to give up on things that can be fixed.
i was looking at the sony xplodes too...if this doesn't work out, that is probably what i will do
thanks for your help

Great Frank :) Let me know if you get an Xplode, I paid $150 for mine and it installed in about 45 minutes. Easy and I'll set you up with the wiring config I used.
