New 5.0 in a Mark VIII.....

6.2 TT FTW

lol

Eric I am still amazed what the little 7-8 psi does to the ls3. Edelbrock has the nicest one IMO right now.

Some guys on the corvette forum love the STS system. It looks cool but there are quite a few things I don't like about it. The Edelbrock kit is clean, although I haven't heard a whole lot about it. I don't think mine will see any forced induction any time soon......

Is the gold car going away ? You need at least one boosted v8 in your garage ... lol

There is a shop in Tampa, that is installing one of the new 5.0 coyote engines in a 2001 Bullitt mustang.

3.5TT>>>>>6.2 and 5.0
The 3.5TT was actually another thought.Sure it can be set for just RWD but to make a Mark VIII AWD,that would be something.

That looks like a clean swap in that Bullitt.I'm sure that is going to be real big difference compared to the old P.I headed 4.6.

It looks like an LS6 almost...with the intake runners. What is the 3.5 TT in....and hell yes AWD would be AWESOME! haha

An AWD Mark VIII would be gay. It would shift the weight distribution forward, and to do it with an ecoboost you'd be running with a FWD bias. Only getting RWD under power. Super gay. Plus you'd have to completely incorporate the entire front suspension of the taurus to make it work. Just totally unfeasible.

They're putting the ecoboost in the F150. Getting one out of a RWD F150 and putting it in the mark 8 would be pretty cool. RWD, of course.

Fine...I'll put a Bronco frame in there and it will be 4wd....just so its not gay. :)

LMR has the crate Coyote in stock for just over $6100.00 and VERY reasonable shipping. You would still need a control system- $1300.00 from Ford Racing, but it is otherwise a bolt-in.
I see a Coyote/Panther/F100 unibody in my future, but it sure is tempting to rejuvenate my Ol' Black 98 with 412+ flat-hooded horsepower!

A total investment in just the engine of just $7,400 doesn't sound bad at all.Now getting one from a wrecked GT or F150 would make it alot cheaper of course. And if the 4r70w trans. bolts right to it that would also save some money. But also adding the 6R80 6 speed auto to it would also be nice.
Like I kinda mentioned earlier, looking at the hood lines of the first generation and second generation Mark VIII's I would think that it would fit just a little better in the second gen. only because of the intake tube on the 5.0 as it enters threw the front.

It does bolt up, but would require an aftermarket trans controller as well; the Ford Racing unit controls engine only. I am trying to find out the compatability issues involved in using a complete donor drivetrain with control unit in the Mark: and whether the use of an after-market TCS would result in DTC's.
With the development of supercharger kits for the Coyote by FRPP and others; if I go for it, I will probably add the K-member spacers just in case.

I think it would be more cost effective and less of a headache to install the engine and transmission WITH the appropriate harnesses/controllers and then make the Mark 8 cluster/ac/etc...work with the 5.0 stuff. Just my two cents. :)

Traction Control System? (who needs it?)
DTC??

You know...all the knew fords are using the CAN system and you HAVE to use the correct cluster in order for everything to work, might as well make the 5.0 cluster fit. :)
