The latest issue of Car and Driver magazine has a spread on the new Lincoln concept to be shown at the Detroit Motor Show. These scans of the magazine by a member of CarSpyShots have turned up on the ‘net and give us a sneak peek at what the new car, which is expected for production, will look like. Apparently the grille is very likely to make it to the production model, which is a scary thought. Apart from what the images say, namely that it’ll have 415hp, be RWD, and twin-turbocharged, we don’t know much else about the concept. We like the general profile of the car, but it looks like it was styled in the 90s. The MKR doesn’t have the cutting edge styling we expect from a marque that needs to bounce back from the brink of extinction.

Ford likes concepts that never see the light of day, especially Lincolns.[/quote]

++++++1. This seems to be a trend for them. Making concepts showing people they CAN still design cars, but they dont "want" too.

'Looks like it was kicked in the butt - ala Chrysler Crossfire! They should make it longer, (more proportioned) - a 2-door 4-seater like the Mark VIII!

I see it in the side shot now, but not the front shot. Oh well.

Looks like they didn't learn anything from Gen1 headlights... ::uh::

Hey Logres. I agree. Looks like we're not poles apart after all. Bodes well for the new-year!!!

RE: New Lincoln MKR concept images

The front end is just gross. The profile is decent, except toward the rear. The rear end needs work, but it's not as bad as the front.

They need to do better than that.

I've found that not holding grudges is one of the best "life rules" I ever made. :)

Especially for a car that will probably sell for upwards of $60K...

OMG. That is the ugliest thing i have ever laid my eyes on. I'm going to go wash them in peroxide. Where are they getting these (i don't know what to call them) designers nowadays? Must of been the brother of the Chevy Avalanche pro team on tour. I mean Christ, were not playing LEGOS and make something out of a box of panels and two axle bricks. Youre designing an automobile, a Legend, and if it makes it, and wins the hearts and minds of the people, a history icon that all will remember like the 57 chevy.
Think about what your accomplishing and the style and image before you hit the clay models or even markers and paper. What i see in that orange monstrosity above is Prowler wannabe, Caddilac inspired rear, Nissan Maximas huge glass roof panels. I thought Lincoln was "what a luxury car should be" not lets throw a bunch of goodies and styling cues out to hook everyone into buying one of them.
I'm sorry guys for the rant, haha it's late and i hate this car. LOL can you tell? Fire the designer Lincon, Keep the motor, Make it a 2 door, give it a trunk, but not a super long one, loose the skinny Testarossa wannabe side mirrors, and my biggest pet peeve is all "three spoke" steering wheels suck. I hate to look at the one in my lil brothers beautiful restored Firebird. The only cool thing i saw was somone engraved the Lincoln logo into the tire tread for the photo shoot. I have to wonder what the designer was thinking or taking to design a grille like that. I'd be embarrased to bring that mockup to a board meeting with a straight face.
Thanks for the pics. I can permanately put this to rest in my mind now. This will never sell.
Our Mark 8s are safe as the coolest Lincolns out there still to this day. The Lincoln LS almost had me as a buyer, but with no two door and no power under the hood kept me in the Original Mark VIII.

The MKZ comes close, but you're right, the Mark VIII is still tops.

RE: New Lincoln MKR concept images

I just don't like it at all. Too big of a nose and grill, too small on the headlights, and too chunky everywhere else. I just don't see the pretty shape of our Marks.

Oh, well - I planned to keep my Mark forever anyway :*
