Ok...this may be a stretch. I need HELP with my PS3....

J

OCCUPY LoD :)
Just updated to the new version last night (1.8 or something).

Played multiplayer today for about 10 minutes and then was booted off. Now when I try to connect I get this message. "Failed to Connect, DNS error 80710102". Searched on the net and I've tried ALL sorts of crap....been working on it for 2 1/2 hours. :(

Basically, when I test the connection, I obtain my IP address and then when it tries to connect to the internet it fails and I get that same error.

HELP! :(

You probably need to reconnect to your router (home interweb). Make sure you get the password right. Unless you're not using wireless....

Also check to make sure your router allows your PS3 to access the web.

First thing I did was reboot everything....like 17 times.

I've been using the same setup for months......the only thing that has changed was the latest update I just did last night. Thats the ONLY thing. I'm assuming its some kind of bug/glitch with the update.

Max....I'm running a wired connection, no password needed. I cannot connect to any internet on the PS3.....but I can obtain an IP address automatically.

*sigh*

Is it an internal or external IP? I know you said nothing has changed, but have you added ANYTHING else to the network?

How do I tell the difference? I have not added or removed anything.....it was working fine last night for about 2 hours before I went to bed, then again this morning for about 20 minutes....then blam...I'm booted off.

I never used a PS3, but there must be a network screen with IP address and DNS servers listed.

Normally the IP address would be 10.0.... Typically it should not start 192.168.....

Those would be network or self-assigned. Network good, self bad. If its not those above then it may be assigned by the internet provider, but this depends on your network setup.

The DNS servers should be filled with numbers also. If not, ass these: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Kk.....my IP is 192.168 etc.....and originally it showed the DNS addresses defaulted to zeros. I did try the DNS numbers you have down. :(

Now its saying my IP is 67.203.*****....and the DNS servers are 199.249**** and 19.1 Wtf?

I even bypassed my computer/router and went straight to the PS3 with a different cable...no luck.

I'll check the website, but one of the things it says in the user agreements before each update is "you can't go back to prior versions". Lol!

Going back wouldn't help me anyways......because in order to play online I have to be updated, haha.

Maybe they'll figure it out......soon.

I imagine my current router is obsolete (Terayan?) so its not supported by the new update. :(
