Old Foggie Car?

I just had to lift this one (promise not to do it again). So often it is heard that the Town Car is for "old people"~ Well since I got a T.C. I joined a Town Car board. It's a pretty active place, and I've tried to get a few of the people to come over here to our T.C. section, but they are very happy remaining where they are.

Anyhow, the point of this is that owners run the full spectrum of age, and many are under 30. This guys is the youngest, and I got a kick outta his post last night, and thought I'd share it:-

" I got a '94 Signature sSeries Tournament Edition Presidential Town Sedan. Now thats a mouthful! It has the gold package, white leather interior, pearl white exterior and a white vinyl top and just over 80,000 miles. Not bad for a 16 year old kid's first car? "

I didn't, but I wanted to reply: It isn't a Brougham?

RE: Old Foggie Car?

Smart parents. I'd give a 16 year old son a Town Car plus I'd pay for the insurance for it but would make him buy a Mustang or Camaro plus the insurance. That's if I'd even let him have one in the first place.

It's not only a safer "cocoon", it doesn't encourage stupid driving.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

exactly. I'd have gotten in far less trouble with a town car as a first car.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

Actually with the current demographics of the car - L/M is considering a warranty that lasts the life of the original buyer.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

id have probably gotten laid more with a town car. integras dont have much in the way of a back seat. o and the reckless driving thing probably wouldnt have been done as much.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

If you need a back seat to get laid in, hence cant afford a hotel room, you shouldnt be able to afford a town car.. :)

RE: Old Foggie Car?

I dunno... a 90 (or so) town car would be a great first car right now. Cheap, nice, reliable, slow (but not too slow) and safe.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

I'll tell you about mine, now that we've gotten to know one & other !

Highs

Smoothest ride I've ever experienced. Like every road repaved yesterday.

Zero wind noise, Zero rattles, creeks or other pesky audables.

Great steering wheel to grasp > Thick Thick Thick wood & leather, great to the touch.

Fantastic braking!!!

Very, Very comfortable seats, great visablity.

Lows:

Confusing stereo controls, takes forever to learn and has features that are useless, only serving to make it more confusing. The stereo needs more POWER!!!!!!!!! Power up the Stereo!! Less fussy/More Power.... PLEEEEESE

Kinda busy dash layout, takes some getting used to. Do we need BOTH an analog Speedo & a digital Speedo on one car???

Surprises:

Corners absolutely beyond belief, for a 215" long, 79" wide 4,400 pound car, you can toss it into a sharp curve and it will rise to the job.

Fun Toys:
The Trunk!! the trunk is a side show to the observer! Push a button on the key fob and she pops open 4" and then pauses and powers itself up all the way. Then, push the button again and the trunk will slowly pull itself all the way down, and lock itself, even from 50 feet away. It's really cool to do & watch observers in a parking lot. They FREAK!

Power:
Okay, she ain't no Mark 7 or 8 in the power dept. But, she's also not promoted as a performance car. The tranny is much better than the Marks, with no hesitation or 'searching' for a grear, it goes where it should and stays there, until a kickdown ....
Powerwise, she's got more than I expected. But, again it's a smooth delivery over a wider range. From a rolling start (say 15 MPH) a firm pounding on the gas pedal will result in a chirping of the tires and a mini burn out and a super fast arrival at 45 MPH. Round about 67 MPH shes..... well, a Town Car! :) I did have her up to 84 MPH and she'll perform flawlessly there, but again, she is what she is, and her mission is smooth luxury driving.

Paint & Fit:
perfect, period. Love the Platinum-Jade paint color.

Interior:
Perfect......no flaws

Fuel:
Don't ask! Gulp Gulp Gulp (But it's still breaking in,to be fair.)

Well, that's about it. It's the nicest American Luxury 4-Door out there, with the Buick Park Ave Ultra in 2nd and the de Ville in 3rd IMHO.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

Town cars are great. My mom owned a 1989 when I was in high school. I loved taking it out on the weekends. Man the girls looooved it. Best riding american car ( to me anyway). Only car that I have driven that had a better ride was a mid-90's BMW 740il. Maybe I will have to get one soon. That is if the wife will let me have another car.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

Hmm... im in HS, my dad has a 98 Continental, all my friends love that car, it has a amazing ride, huge backseat, huge trunk, and pretty damn good pickup, Thats why I drive it every chance I get, hate my Neon. :) The chicks love the way it looks too.............

RE: Old Foggie Car?

You also have to remember that the 2003 T.C. was all new. This from Automotive News the week after the first 2003s rolled off the line>>

Lincoln Town Car – completely redesigned for 2003. Features a new frame, suspension and rack & pinion steering for improved ride and handling. The completely redesigned trunk allows greater luggage capacity. Production began 3/11/02

RE: Old Foggie Car?

Just to add to the topic. One of the new people in the office heard that I drive a Lincoln. First thing she said to me was, "Aren't you a little YOUNG to be driving a Lincoln?" Then I showed her my web site. "OH!" she repsonded.
We all had a good laugh.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

Oh my God, I love your web-site. Checked it all out, like the T/A t-Top and most of all that pic of your "VIII" with the American Flag reflecting on the hood. I just stole that picture, and am going to use it on some stationery! Nicest private web-site I've seen in a long time and a nice looking family, to boot. Quadruple Congrats!

yeah, but they look the same to me

RE: Old Foggie Car?

New Grille & trunk lid and tailights are about it visually. Underneath, it's all new.

RE: Old Foggie Car?

"I did have her up to 84 MPH..."

Sandy - that's faster than you ever drove your Mark!

94 Mark VIII, Black / Black
