One pic to summarize Ike

ABC featured this house on the news this morning. According to the news story, the home owner lost his last home to Katrina. So he had his home over engineered. One feature they mention was putting it up higher -- 19 feet about beach level, if memory serves.

I bet you the die hard re-builders will use his plans/engineer.

I doubt it actually, the overengineering in that case is very expensive.

you could build probably 4 houses are current codes for what it cost that guy to build a single house.

Sad to say... the quality of housebuilding went way downhill since the influx of "cheap labor" from south of the border.

you should just see the "trim work" these people try to pass off a "carpentry".
It's sad.
