Sandy,

Looks like 6 yes votes and 1 no vote. Send me the check and I'll store it for awhile, maybe only use it a little.

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

You're killin' me

Karen says. "NO" I want to redo the bedroom, fix the hallway and do a new Bathroom....."No More Cars"

listen... Pinkin Cries out in the night.... D A A A D D Y !!!

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

Well, I vote no. You can never go back... besides, cars that aren't new and under warranty are projects. You've already got three of them. You don't need another....

And, I think the wife is worth more than Pinkin', but, that's a personal choice.

Oh, and no offense, but I can't stand that color on any car. I grew up in a house that color. It scarred me for life....

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

When she came in to Maplecrest L-M they have a ramp-up display in front of the showroom on which they put "special stuff" (right now there's a ZO6 Corvette on it that was traded in on a Navagator) and after like 2 or 3 hours the police had to ask them to take Pinkin down off the ramp because she was creating a traffic jam as drivers slowed down to look, therby slowing traffic back to the trafic light. The funny thing was back in 1961 to 1957, nobody woulda looked twice at it. Every brand of car had at least one pink, many had two like a pink and a rose pink or a light pink and a dark pink. 1969 Cadillac and 1967 Imperial both had Pink as well as the Mary Kay Cadillacs from 1975 to 2003, but for some reason Pinkin always created a big splash and whoop T doo that the others didn't. The actual color on it is 1959 Thunderbird "Flamingo" ~ ~ also used on the 1959 Lincolns. To see color chart, enter http://www.autocolorlibrary.com
then enter "View Domestics" and then FORD and then 1959 to see Thunderbird Color Chart. The link will not work, here. I tried it.

You could try cut & paste & put http:// in front of the above "autocolorlibrary"

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

I don't think this is a yes or a no vote. Maybe a little of both.

As much as you like it Sandy, what would happen to the car? Would it eventually be resold, or would you hang on to it like your doing with the Cadillac and McLarens? If you would resell it down the line I would say go for it. Its going to be a great investment, and while you have it you'll enjoy every minute with it.

On the other hand, I see a wife being much more important than a car. You did recently purchase another vehicle as well. Maybe it is time for the wife to have something that she wants.

I'm not saying yes you should buy it or no you shouldn't. But if for some reason the corvette got sold away from me, I would buy it back in a heartbeat and it wouldn't matter what anyone told me.

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

I pretty much decided to pass on it. I don't have the storage, Jay. I have one McLaren in a rented garage - like 9 houses from me. Very convenient! :) I have the Cadillac & another McLaren here, in my garage. I have the 3rd McLaren in commercial rented storage. greenKIN lives outside in the driveway and Jeepers is away at college. There is simply no place to put Pinkin. I've asked many neighbors and the mailman (they know who's not using the garage & who is elderly & given up driving and still has a garage) and there is absolutely NOTHING available! Secondly, my present garage & storage rents are all I can afford, and some months the payment really hurts. Combined, they are $320.00 a month! (or $3,840.00 @ yr.). So ~ no hope in site for Pinkin. I try not to think about it. Karen said "buy it if you want, but you need to get rid of "somebody" ~ I looked at "my kids" and I just can't bear to put any of them up for adoption! :( .... From Dec. 16th to Jan. 21st Matt will home, and with Jeepers here we spend 1/2 out life "changing around the cars..." Imagine if Pinkin was throwen into the mix.....

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

I understand completly Sandy. We to have run out of storage for our vehicles. We have a 3 car garage at home. The Navigator, the explorer, and the F250 get that garage. The other garage, about a mile from the house gets the TransAm, Corvette, and the Mark when I'm home. And of course the Sierra is at the airport.

But now my dad bought another airplane just 2 weeks ago. The plane is being dissasembled currently since its going through a thorough restoration. But by this weekend we have to come up with a spot to put it. The only solution we have at this time is to let it take up a spot in the garage a mile from our house. The wings are off of it, and the door on the garage is high enough that it will fit. Most of the restoration will be able to be done in the garage with the wings off the plane. But by the time Christmas rolls around then we have to find a new spot for it as the wings go back on and it'll be ready to fly again.

There are not any vacant hangers at the airport. The plane can't stay in the garage. It'd be a little bit of a pain to have to bolt the wings on and then taxi it through town to get to the airport. Not to mention that everyone in the city wouldn't like that. We thought we had found a soloution. I was going to take one of the planes with me to school and put it in a hanger at that airport. Well, thats a no go right now. All of those hangers are full as well. Were at the top of the waiting list for a hanger at Cape, but it doesn't seem very likely that anything will open up within a month. Looks like someone will be booted outside. :(

Sorry to hear that Pinkin won't be rejoining the family. But I would hate for him/her (don't know the gender) to have to sit outside. It may be best for you to pass on the opportunity right now anyways.

I have some pretty interesting stories on how the guys (and my dad) at the airport have bought some pretty expensive toys and hidden them from their wives. But I don't know how you'd hide it from Karen. I don't think I'd be able to hide something like that from someone that ment that much to me either.

Good luck with the kids!

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

Ha Ha Ha .... not to top you, but I KNOW that you'll enjoy this one!

The place (commercial storage) where one of the MaClarens lives in a 24 hour a day Pinkerton's Guard protected and is UNDER ground with unmarked entry in a solid brick building. Inside, everything is concrete & cider block. There is no wood to catch fire. The place is both heated & air conditioned! It is kept at 68 degrees year round and has no windows. Inside each "garage" is kept seperate on all 3 sides, the door is aluminum and you supply your own lock(s). Abundant lighting during all "open" hours, and piped in music that changes type of music every 20 minutes, from Acid Rock to Disco to broadway to soft rock to smooth jazz to progressive jazz to soul to R & B to oldies to latin salsa and on & on. You are not allowed to eat, drink or smoke inside your stall, nor wash your car, but you are allowed to wax your car, and/or wet wipe it off with a wet towel. You get in & out with PIN (personal Id Number) entered into a bank-like ATM machine. While you are there, you are on constant TV monitor and there are people watching everyone. That's their job. They have 10 monitors. In the "Family Lobby" they have sofas, coffee tables, carpeting, and vending machines. You can actually have lunch there from vending machines...soup, coffee, soda, sandwich & ice cream. Huge tropical fish tank, too.
I've met alot of "Car People" there taking care of their toyzz! You should SEE some of the stuff in there! Totally awesome! A 32 Little Deuce Coupe with a Mustang Cobra V8, a 76 Eldorado Convt ordered in Spec Order paint, a 1 of 1 with 1,800 miles on it, a 52 Jaguar roadster and a pair of 1971 4.4.2. W-30 "Machines" ~ both rag tops.

Anyhow, there's this guy in there with a Fly Yellow Ferrari ... like about a 2000. NOBODY in his family knows about it. Sunday AM he tells the wife he's going for bagels and..... and to "hang out with the guys..... He hurries down to the place, parks the Seville in the garage after removing the Ferrari and takes "Simply Yellow" for a spin, picks up the bagels, returns to the place, swaps cars and goes home! Told me Simply Yello is in his will and willed to his kids. THAT'S when they'll all learn of Simply Yello ! Funny Guy.
No, I could not be like that. I can't hide crap !

If I ever cheated on my wife (never would) But if..... I'd probably confess & tell her THAT night!

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

Sandy, I will give you $3,840.00 for your blue convertible so you can get Pinkin back, and that price is only because I am feeling philanthropic.

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

So Jay - did you finally get your pilot license?

John, I've had my pilots license since Sept. 9th of 2001. I'm just shy of 200 hours, and as school permits me, I am working on my instrument. Shot 2 ILS approaches this past weekend. Broke minimums on one of them (Shhh!) and the other I broke out right at minimums.

RE: Pinkin is 4-Sale ...... Should I ?

You are $20,000 short, according to what others have sold for with similiar miles, 1989s or 1990s. Anyhow, Blu-Mac is not 4-sale, at any price, neither is Hi Ho Scarlet, nor Grey-Mac, nor Fleecewood.
