I've chatted with Joe(ponyfreak) about a possible gathering/racing weekend @ Beechbend park. I was thinking about mid july or so(I work for myself so anytime is ok with me). Beech bend has a nhra drag strip,paved oval,water park/amusement park(very family friendly)and camping area. Bowling Green is also home to the Corvette factory and museum. The park is located in Bowling Green,KY,just a few miles off I-65 exit 28(I think). Its about 1.5 hours from Nashville,TN and Louisville,KY. I think I'm game. How far is this from Detroit ?

Edit: 470 miles >>> a bit too far for the 4.10s and sc.

Hmmmm, 446 miles for me. Doable, but it would require a long weekend, so I don't think I could make it in July - the NHRA event in Joliet is the 23-25, and I'm also taking off the 1st week in July from work, so highly doubtful I could fit something like that into the schedule.

Depending on the weekend, I should be able to go. I know Joe has spoken with me also about this. We were trying to figure out who would could attend.... Driller & Wvabeer you guys interested?

Well, it would take some planning as it is about 8 hours from me. But I would certainly enjoy meeting you guys if I could pull off a long weekend. Don't count me in but don't count me out. ;)

Kenny(wvabeer) is a bit closer?

Cincinnati's much better for me too. That's about 300 miles.

That's where I bought the '91 LSC beater at. :)

If it works better for others, that's cool, but don't change locale for just me.

Cinci's closer to me, too. I may have the same issues with getting time off work in July, but don't work this around me -- I'll try to make it whenever and wherever it is.

i know it would be a great weekend! meet there friday evening or night, have all the supplies together. we could camp there or get hotel rooms close. the camping sounds like fun to me, plus your right there in the park(3 minutes from the track!) we could have a big cookout. the date is really open with me. lets just choose the date that allows the most people a chance to come.

I sure like Cinci a lot Better. I might have to take my freakin black car to the track though. I sure hope not. I will be back in Town on July 1-3 or so, and should be in town the rest of July.

I am pretty sure that Eli will be there too. He should be there with a new baby girl and 12 second n/a Mark VIII or his Gen 2.

There are two tracks to go to in the Cincinatti area. Edgewater, and Tristate.

The last meet we had was at Tristate. Better bring some sunscreen.
According to the schedule it looks as if there is test and tune on friday night and sat, if we hit both tracks.

There is not much to do out by the tracks so wives can get bored very quickly. It would be nice if someone would bring a digital camcorder. I have a digicamera that can take as many pics as you like.

Perhaps we can see if Jay and Dave H wants to go. Perhaps I will give Craig a call from Cinci. I have not talked ot him since the cal board split. Even though DJ hates me I might call them a call and see if they want to go--unless someone else wants to email/call.

It is impossible to predict my work this far out, but since I'm on Jury Duty 'till the 16th, that would be the first weekend I could make a 3 day weekend out of. I already have plans for the weekend of the Fourth of July. I'll probably be working the weekend of the 9th-11th so yeah, the 16th-18th? I don't mean to be setting the agenda, just throwing ideas around for discussion.

So it looks like Cincinatti area? That increases my odds tremendously. :)

EDIT: Just looked at track schedules. TNT Friday evening, the 16th at Edgewater and Saturday evening, the 17th at TriState. Cool.

the 17th ill be in indianapolis. i have a family reunion there at 12 till about 5 or so. so a meeting there saturday night would be ok,but i wouldnt be able to make it back to cincinnati that night. but i could do any other weekend other than the 17th. in cincinnati. i just found out about the reunion sunday. what can we do there in southern ohio saturday evening?

I am supposed to cover for somepne at work for the weekend of the 17th but that can be changed due to the meeting with my LOD family. Anyone else got any suggestions? I'll try to email DJ to see if he's interested.

I know I am just now chiming in but what about the weekend of the 23-25th. Just a suggestion doesnt have to be then. I am free most anytime. Other than the weekend of the 4th but it sounds as though most are occupied that weekend also.

I might not even be back in town on the 4th. Anytime other time suits me. If we decide soon I can secure some time off with my vacaton days. the 17th or the 24th sounds good to me. What do you guys want to do on Sat night? The Reds are in town on the 17-18th playign hte cardinals. THe games are at 1pm though. Seats can usually be had very cheap, i.e 10-15$. We should be able to get some LOD monies to help out for refresments ect at the track since this is a larger meet.
