Power Loss 05 LS 3.0

I had some recent Coil Pack problems with my 05 LS. The car has 122,000 on it so I put 6 new ones on along with new plugs, I put platinum ones on and gapped them to .054. The car no longer misses but has a dramatic loss of power. I will do my best to describe this so I hope the following makes sense. It sounds like it is bogging down or like I have an exhaust headder growl but with out the power, It's a throaty noise from the motor almost like it is starving for either air or gas not sure. It sounds like a four barrel carb kicking in but without the power, almost like an exhaust sound. This only happens when I get on it, after I get rolling the sound goes away and it seems to run fine until I get on it. If I get on it on the highway the sound along with the lack of power comes back. It will also premature downshift where if did not in the past. Obviously it doesn’t shift like it use to either. I am not getting any codes showing up. The air filter was changed at the same time the plugs and coils were. Is there a way to reset the computer? If my tranny is low on fluid (I don’t know if it is you can’t check it) will this affect the engine? Using the existing gaskets I torqued the intake down to 82 inch lbs when I replace the coils and plugs, I don’t think I have any leaks. It also seems to pre-det at higher RPMs regardless of the manufacture of the Higher octain gas I put in it. Any ideas?

Certianly could be a leak, I can't hear any leaks and there is not many places it can leak after the Mass air sensor, I'll give it another look.
Im not sure about V8s but on a 3.0 there is a "chamber" very odd in shape that is directly after the flexable tube that connects the air cleaner box and the intake.
The rectange piece that sort of sits above the radiator is cracked where it attaches to the other pieces of the chamber, perhaps sealing that up better will take care of it.

I thought the same at first, origionally I only replaced the ones on the 4,5,6 side the codes only showed 4 and 6, being where they are located I figured I will replace all three. The engine went through a series of rpm changes where I had no controll and then mellowed out. I took it for a spin but did not have any power, no more misfires but no power. I heard that when you have some weak coils the computer will tax the ones that are working and then you replace the weak or bad ones the ones that were taxed can go bad pretty quick. Never the less 2 days later I put the other three on. In the event one of the packs on 456 where bad, I took the intake back off and put the other 3 new ones on that side and put 456 on the 123 side, the car did runn a little bit smoother but still no power.

You still haven't answered the rough idle question?!
If the car idles rough, unplug each coil individually while the car is running. If one doesn't make the idle worse... that is your culprit.

After replacing the coils the car idles smooth, it runs smooth, it simply has a lack of power. Note, is almost impossible to unplug the coils on the passenger bank of a 3.0 when the car is running for the upper intake plenum overwhelmingly coverts them.
Does anyone know what the plug gap should be?

I wanted to mention. my experience with my Mark, was that it was quite sensetive to spark plug gap. My recollection is that the sticker under the hood suggested a range, and I gapped them to the wider end of that range, and experienced problems similar to yours. I re-gapped toward the narrower end, and things worked alot better.

Clean you MAF. I had the same problem with my old 97 TBIRD and it did not throw a Check Engine Light or Code, but I cleaned the MAF, and it was like a new car all over again.

If you clean your MAF wire, BE VERY CAREFUL!! FRAGILE!!!!!! Use a good quality Electronic Cleaner...you shouldn't even have to touch it.
