So, whats the deal with cal?

I keep hearing bad things about cal and "The darkside" and I am just wondering what the deal is.
 
Back in the day, we were all on another, similar site run by a club member (Cal, Calvin Louie). There were some disagreements, leading to the formation of this site for the club. He still runs the other site. If you look at his site, you might notice that all the content is from Lincolns of Distinction.
 
The "darkside" is the other forums........

After numerous members were banned PERMENITALLY without explination........they started coming over to the "light".
 
I really don't think they are the dark side, I mean the dark side is just way too cool!

Maybe I would compare em to rainbow brite or the carebears!
 
My last post on that board was back in April of 2004.

Been gone from there for 3 years and haven't missed it at all.

Yeah....I've been "gone" for almost 3 months now, same feelings. Once he offered to "let me" post again under rediculous curcumstances I was like screw that. He actually told me that I "could post in ONLY the technical forums, and ONLY to reply to technical posts." Talk about being a puppet and used for my knowlegde.......I was pretty much the first to leave, than Max got banned without warning. Its all been uphill(for us) since than. Unity, BigBoyBoeys, Jamies98lsc(?) all banned without warning.
 
Lol....agree, but if you're selling cookies, make sure they have recycled M8 parts in them for chocolate chips.

yes, I am a member of both sites. and I try as much as possible to keep the two seperate. You dont see people over there talking smack about this site, right?

Yes and no. Generally in a situation like that you know WHY you were dumped.

Of course not, because you cant MENTION LOD in MarkVIII.org without the thread or post being deleted.

Welcome to the World Wide Web. Its a community of people and when wrong is done people need to know. What is Childish is:

1) Banning without warning or explanation
2) No responding to e-mails asking WHY one was banned
3) Making fun Signature pics. I admit, it was childish but fun!

Let's see if we can let this go, OK guys? I understand the frustration, because a lot of us had it when we first came here, but it'd be nice now that you've said your piece to kinda let it go.

It may be childish to you, but how would you feel if you invested 3+ years(for me, WAY more for Max!) of informative posts, questions, jokes, making friends, just to get used, than abused, and treated the way I was just because ONE or TWO people didn't like me or the way I posted? Than, I was kicked while I was down by being offered to "only post answering technical questions", please. There are ALWAYS going to be people you won't like or get along with in life...but does banning them make it right? People like Cal will get no where in life treating others the way he does.

How would you like if you tried to log in one day and found out he deactivated you because you're over here talking to us? I'm sure you'd be acting just as "childish" as we are. Its old news to you, but to those who were just banned this month.....it still hurts.

Oh....by the way, I've only been talking about Cal...the site is awesome, but the people are who make up the site, so as long as people like him are there, it will always be the "dark side".

Sorry Craig....but I'm going to defend myself here. We've been friends for awhile, but somewhere down the line, you've been misled or misinformed and for some reason you think this is just another day in the life of Markviii.org and its changed the way you look at us.

Not to mention, when I was the only one being banned, you couldn't even mention my name without the post being deleted.
