30 mile run? No sweat.
Two things worry me - finding the right combo to SLOW the car to 14.0 and the "new to me" Pro 0.400 tree.
If it's a typical July day in Joliet, the heat may be all that's required to slow the car to the flat 14 second range. I remember a track event last summer where it was all the Blue Flame could do to stay in the 13s. I would say I normally run 13.8-13.9 on a good hot day at a decent track with the car running well.
I'll be running a heavier set of wheels and tires as well with the Micket Thompson ET Streets Drag Radials (DOT street legal) on a set of chrome 10 spokes versus the normal Hoosier Quick Time Pros on a set of snowflakes. No front skinnies either - that will likely be a tenth right there.
You are allowed to lower the tire pressures but not add any tire pressure before any run.
You are not allowed to open the hood in the staging lanes.
I have a "switch" chip with 4 different tunes. One all-out "Race" tune, one "Dyno"-tune, one "Moderate Street" tune and one "Mild Street" tune. Of course I also have the stock setting as well. Not much differentiates the "race" and "dyno" tunes, at least at the track, and I really haven't run the street tunes enough to statistically compare them to the track tunes. But the switch chip is a huge ace in the hole should I need it.
Friday the 19th will allow time trials as well as early on the 20th before the actual event. I don't know how many trial runs I will get, but I'm going to assume very few as the track is sure to be crowded at this event.
All the usual maintenance has been done, new fuel filter, new plugs, etc...
But the Pro 0.400 tree versus the typical Sportsman 0.500 tree has me loosing sleep. I really do not know how to approach this new challenge.
Any thoughts and tips would be appreciated. I'll be on vacation the next few days but will try to check in when I can.
Wish me luck!
