Trunk Emergency

Ok, so I'm leaving for Chicago in a few hours, and I've spent the last few days driving my MK8 around (which just makes me love that car all over again) and tell me this isn't an omen.

I now have things that I need, locked in the MK8's trunk...

There doesn't seem to be any power going to the release and I can't make the key work.

Now, I checked all the fuses, and they are good, tried both my ignition keys, which will both open the door as well but not the trunk.

Was there a separate trunk key? If so I never had it...

Any thoughts? The button in the door doesn't work (but the fuel one does), the keypad works but won't open the trunk, and the remotes work but won't open the trunk also...

Thanks!!!

one one key for the 2nd gen as well, sounds like it is stuck, try pulling up on it hard when hitting the unlock button on the FOB or give it a few good wacks.

ok, so it is 1 key?

I'll try that again, but there isn't even a click sound when you hit the release button...

What color is your key,if it's black it's a standard key,if it's gray it's a valet key. Maybe someone changed the cylinder.

So, short of actually denting the trunk, I really can't beat any harder on it, pushing down, pulling up... nothing...

The trunk button isn't locked...

If i had more time, I'd remove the back seat and try to grab the emergency pull release, but I don't...

And I can't leave till after my last kid leaves at 7... :D

I only have ignition keys, I never got a valet key with the car.
Which way should the key turn to unlock it?

turn it to the right, there is no emergency pull release on the mark, you are thinking of your caddy.

I thought there was a little glow in the dark pull thing in case you locked yourself in the trunk... :D

Thanks!

Did you check the relay in the engine compartment - under the hood - #5 30A* Trunk Lid Relay, Fuel Filler Door Release

Yes, the fuse is fine, and the fuel door release works just fine...

I've damn near bent the key trying to get the lock to release... so I'm think I'm outta options...

When is the last time you used it? Sounds like it is rusted shut or something. Don't even think Lock-Ease will help but worth a shot. You may have to remove the back seat to get in there to see what is going on.

I used the trunk over the past few days with no problems, which is why a bunch of my clothes are now locked in it... lol

But I always used either the remote fob or the door button to open it...
I can't think of a single time that I've ever used the key to unlock it...

Have you told her it's not that you don't want to drive her, it's just that we need the Caddy's trunk space, so nothing personal?

Have you used all appropriate swear and/or magic words?

Oh, OT: I asked my hair colorist and told her to tell the assistant you liked to come to the party after they get off work. They still remember you and figure any party you go to has to be fun. ;)
