Vista Is Outta Here

Ok.. the next person who calls a Mac a MAC is obviously NOT a hardcore computer user.... nuff said! lol

semantics

Game consoles are for games, not computers. If you are indeed a "hardcore" gamer, you would know that. Again, nuff said! lol

There are arguments either way on whether consoles or computers are a better choice for gaming, its a no win argument. Although computers can keep up with the changes better due to being able to swap out parts.

1. See Max's response regarding semantics. WHAT DOES CAPITALIZING AN ABBREVIATION HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? IN A TEXT MESSAGE IT INDICATES THAT I AM OVERLY EXPRESSIVE OR ANGRY...LIKE THE TYPICAL MAC USER WHEN SOMEONE EVEN MENTIONS PC OR WINDOWS.

Capitalizing does just that, it expresses shouting or aggressive feelings that can't be displayed without actual human interface

See my response to that, not worth repeating.

2. Computers still continue to stay one step ahead of consoles as far as computation and graphics and audio are concerned. So yes, the best gaming experience is had on a computer.

This seems to contradict what you said before that I highlighted in green above but its more correct imo
Apparently you are not a gamer. And FYI, WoW is not a resource hog at all. You do not need the latest hardware at all to play it to get the most out of it.

3. PC games not hardcore? What is the #1 online multiplayer game right now on any game platform? (Hint - the acronym is WOW)

World Of Warcraft is the most popular multiplayer game out there, no doubt. This does not mean anyone is any less knowledgeable than another if they don't know this. I in fact don't play WOW

Popular = Hardcore? So even if a game is not a resource hog you need to upgrade your computer because its popular?

Last question: Why is it that the MAC users appear to be resorting to personal attacks on a far greater scale than their PC using counterparts in this thread?

I assume your not talking about me, because if you used a Mac once you may as well call yourself a "Mac user". I never once said I only use Mac, I also use Unix, Linux and even the BeOS. So yes, I have used a Mac and that would make me a Mac user.

Besides, this is suppose to be about Windows versus all the other OSes out there. You "PC" users are the ones, as usual, twisted the thread to put down the Mac platform or anything else out there.

you did say or infer that you were a sole mac user, and I refer to Macintosh not Media Access Control address. Here is what you said;

I just like that fact that I have never had to deal with a virus, registry problem, loss of data or DRIVERS! Been down that driver road with Dells at work. I never understood why the 98/ME/XP... etc... do not come with all the drivers???

So for me a Mac works best. My time is to valuable to me to deal with all the problems Windows brings. Linux or OS X all the way!

Now go back to playing WoW in your parents basement :)

Noone else is going for the throat so relax yourself

Cheers!
Now with regards to all you said you certainly have a grip on computer knowledge but lets keep the discussion friendly please. There is no reason to cast dispersions on others who aren't "REAL" gamers or MAC/Mac users. You are arguing semantics, and it does not make for a friendly discussion. I work on and build computers as well as websites and databases so please, I come here for my Lincoln needs. So now that we have that all settled lets get back to friendly banter and discussion on why Vista really sucks. And it does. :D

Latest issue of PC World (pg 9 - XP vs Vista)survey Sez " It's one of the most stable operating system that I have ever dealt with" "It boots faster", "It works well with many, many applications", It is simply the most user friendly operating system to date". They were talking about XP, NOT Vista. Good article.....

mikecp421, you seen to be quoting what I quoted as something I said?

And for the record:

"you did say or infer that you were a sole mac user...."

Actually this is what I said:

"So for me a Mac works best. My time is to valuable to me to deal with all the problems Windows brings. Linux or OS X all the way!"

Mac's work best for me, but read the end of that paragraph please.

Ouch! I had a customer today that just last week removed Vista also. Its sad when a new OS is that much worse than an older one. In many way it makes sense, but Microsoft has been down the "lets re-invent the wheel" path before. You think they would have learned by now. A natural evolution works much better and has worked for most operating systems.

They also say in later pages of the new issue that SP-1 for Vista didn't really help the "speed" issues they have experienced with it. So SP-1 isn't gonna help it any over XP either. Sad commentary, eh. And to top it off, MS is discontinuing the XP product for sale on June 30, 2008. There is an on-line petition to save XP at www.savexp.com. As of the mag print date, over 100,000 have signed it!! Ummm, think I'll head that way right now and sign it too......

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The whole Vista crash is probably the reason MS is branching out VERY aggressively into other markets. The surface computing is probably the best concept they have going now.

The next OS from Microsoft (which means small and limp...) looks promising, but so did Vista.

The only times I have real virus problems are when I'm gone from home and Hubby starts surfing porn on this computer. I clean it up with a free anti-virus and we're good to go.

That revelation was way too casual Sharon...

1. I didn't state the resource needs of WOW.
2. I didn't single anyone out regarding the personal attacks...do you have a guilty conscience?
3. I don't play WOW.

Interesting conclusions you are coming to...

You obviously don't do anything more than email and web surfing.

Anybody who does hardcore stuff like gaming needs to upgrade at least once a year...MACs included.

hahaa... actually I run my whole business on a Mac. I consider it a serious business and graphics machine, not a toy to play games on.

1: "Anybody who does hardcore stuff like gaming needs to upgrade at least once a year...MACs included." and "Gaming by far consumes the most resources on any given computer. The only reason to keep upgrading a computer every 6-12 montyhs is to keep up with the latest gaming software and graphics." and then you say "PC games not hardcore? What is the #1 online multiplayer game right now on any game platform? (Hint - the acronym is WOW)" So according to you WoW is a hardcore game that comsumes resources demanding enough to require the latest hardware.

2: "You obviously don't do anything more than email and web surfing." Directed to LeoC2. And no.

3: Good for you.

Wayne, once you meet him you won't even question it. ;) Glad someone caught it though.

Here's a couple more points from me:

1. I use PC's at work. That's not gonna change. So I just really have no desire to use one thing at work and another at home.

2. Why are Mac users infiltrating a Windows thread? Can we not just discuss the pros and cons of Vista without going off on a tangent (as stated before)?

The exact situation between Arabs and Jews...a 3000+ year old battle where no one knows how it started...
