Vlcm?

No i haven't, the cars stuck 3 hours south I'll have to go back next weekend.

Could the clutch slowly disarrange itself over time and need to be re-adjusted?

That's exactly what happened to mine! Started car, A/C worked fine. Pulled out of a parking lot onto the main roadway and ....NO AC! Clutch wore enough to not let the clutch pull itself in. Or that was the time the upper/inner plug decided to come loose..... and I had NEVER had that plug off before. Gotta reach over the top (passenger side) of the compressor to find it.

The AC clutch harness plug is a PITA to reach but if it is not making good contact the AC obviously will not work. But even unplugged, the cooling fan will work.

True. And even if the AC clutch is unplugged, if you turn the climate control to MAX AC, the cooling fan will be forced to high speed.

Yup, so i never REALLY got it fixed.

But... Its rewired now straight to the battery, and has a seperate thermostat in a hose. The fans on high now whenever it comes on, and stays on while the car is at temperature the whole time (highway or not).

It works though. :D
