LED Running Lights for under $5.50? You bet!!

At $11/four LED strips & 1/2 hrs. labor it's not worth doing anything extra. When they die, or get really/un-cleanable dirty, another 1/2 hr labor will replace both. Thinking to double them though (will try this weekend) to increase DRL brightness for these Vegas summer days...

LED Running Lights for under $5.50? You bet!!

I ordered from Amazon a 4-pack of LED strips (18.9 in. long) that were (supposed to be) fully sealed in clear flexible plastic (or at least that's what the description said) for $11.99. A week or so later (they came from China) I got them and installed one strip under each of my Gen 1 headlights...

Need help with CEL codes 214, 327, 565

Bill, I did just that (disconnected the vacuum line from the EGR and plugged it) and the engine was running like crap (very rough, as in 5-6 cylinders) so I did not even take it out of the garage for a drive to see if it would stall (meaningless at this point); I just plugged the vacuum line...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

HA!! I FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE ANNOYING WHISTLE!!! After so many tries and scouring the forums countless of times, on a hunch I jammed a piece of black weatherstrip in the narrow gap between the outside mirrors and the body (pic) Lo and behold, the whistling noise is gone! Only a very faint...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

Thank you for your advice. I was considering this avenue. Problem is, the top weatherstrip that they sell (actually it is a pair, for both doors for $200.99) is listed as for Cougar (even though it is listed under "Mark VIII") and the fitment is not guaranteed (key word: LIKELY). From their...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

I owned this car since 2006 and the whistling noise appeared a few years after buying it, but I managed to eliminate the noise using foam weatherstrip around the interior of the top of both doors. A few months the whistling noise gradually came back and nothing I did (as described in this...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

MY LAST TRY BEFORE I GIVE UP… I drove the car with my wife doing the listening. One thing is sure: The whistling does not come from the top door weatherstrip. Please see pic: wife marked with erasable red marker where the noise id coming from (marked also with letters A-F). Besides that, I...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

I checked the windshield wipers (I drove without them) and it did not change the whistling noise. Thanks for the tip though. I thought that the noise comes from somewhere else around the door/front quarter of vehicle (both sides) and I bought a mechanic's stethoscope to try and locate the...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

I used blue masking tape to tape all the seams around passenger door, pass. window and pass side of the windshield and drove it on the freeway 60-70 mph but the whistling noise didn't change one bit... So back to square one... Side windows and back window are tight, no sign of being tampered...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

Tixer, That's exactly where I stuffed some foam, on passenger side, but it did not do any good. Thanks for your tip though... This weekend will try to add some foam tape to the door gaskets and see if I can hear a difference in pitch. If so, I'll then try and stiffen the d-shaped weatherstrip...

Whistling wind noise - can't eliminate

Hello All, In the last year/maybe less, while driving starting at 65MPH and upward, I developed a high-pitched wind whistling noise around the top of both doors (or so I think). I tried everything I could think of to locate the exact source of the noise and eliminate it but to no avail. I even...

ABS fault code by counting ABS light flashes on Gen 1 - how to??

Bill, Thank you for the info; it’s exactly what I was looking for. This forum rocks!! Tony, Thanks. Will try and check the front wheel sensors if I can find info on where they are located and how they look like. Yes, the dead giveaway of the really bad tow job is a dent in the rocker panel...
