    2014 Annual MI LOD meet

Great to see everyone again! I was only able to come out for a few hours on Saturday night, but I had a blast anyway. Great to see some old friends and meet a few new ones. I felt kind of bad pulling into the driveway in a BMW until I saw that Jeremi had one in his garage :)

    2013 Annual MI LOD Meet

Sharon, thanks for the call! It's always good to come out and see some LOD peeps! I was planning to make it Saturday but something else came up. I am already busy on Sunday. Friday, however, is open! Is there any cost to spectate on Friday? I will be heading down in my hooptie F150 as my...

Belated Bereavement - Sanford M. Block, aka Sandy, aka Cigar Sandy

I loved reading Sandy's posts back in the day. I think I recall reading of his passing at the time, but it's nice to see this post anyway. Sad that we have lost so many good folks that we need this forum now. Glad that the club lasted this long, though.

    Weight off the nose

I'm a little late for the battery relocation topic but I'll chime in anyway. Make sure you run negative back to an engine ground. Most kits have you grounding to the chassis, only running the positive cable up to the engine compartment, but when things get hot you'll get weak cranking because...

    98 LSC Mild Street car

That's where the shaft broke on the only other one that I've seen break. A friend had a 5 speed T-bird SC and we took it to Ubly, put slicks on it, dropped the clutch at some ridiculous RPM, heard a bang and that was that. Same spot.

    Top Tier interesting

You only need extra detergent if you drive like a wuss. None of the stations where I buy my gas from are on the list. I usually buy boat gas from Valero (closest to the water, big enough to pull the trailer in) and car gas from Speedway (Marathon), Kroger, or Meijer. None of them charge extra...

    Michigan meet/track day May 5

    Michigan meet/track day May 5

I wrecked my Navigator, and decided to go from nice truck / beater car to nice car / beater truck. So I sold my '93 Mark (trust me, it was a POS) and went shopping for a fun to drive car with good mileage and a manual trans in the $6k price range. "Manual trans" and "used" pretty much means...

My shift ball has never come off before, doesn't even seem loose. I guess I was just shifting a lot harder / faster at the track than I ever do on the street! Once I pulled it off I took a look at it. Inside it's plasic, and it's just held on with a clip that pushes over a little lip on the...

how many lincolns/mercury's have you had?

Looking at this thread again I'm thinking about all of the cars I've owned. It's not nearly as impressive a list as racecougar, though! '90 Thunderbird LX (first car) '94 Mark 8 (totaled) '94 Mark 8 (replaced totaled one) '89 Chevy S10 2wd 4.3 (paid $100, did impressive burnouts, served...

I had a good time, and it was great to see everyone again! Sharon, why didn't you come? I was a little disappointed with my performance at the drag strip. First pass I forgot to turn off TC and didn't launch hard enough. It bogged and the TC light flashed when I dropped the clutch. 16.4...

    Salvage yard Mark VIIIs

Check the scrap price of aluminum before you take that driveshaft back. It's probably more than $8, because that's what they're going to do with that driveshaft when you take it back. When the motor went in my '93, the junkyard charged me a $25 core. As I was about to leave, they were about...
