Yes, but if I understand the post, this retrofit is designed to use a halogen bulb. that being the case I would simply would be interested in the results of the use of the HIR bulb. HIR's are brighter than hologens. Do you know if the HIR's create more heat?

Trace the wiring and look for chaffing. It has been noted in a few GEN 1's that the wire becomes chaffed and causes the light bar not to funtion. Although the switch may be a possibility, wiring is usually the culprit.
