I have been watching this car since it was first listed. I am looking for another Mark but I don't know about this one since it was parked for so long.

A good mechanic would have no problem with it.

I think the car would be OK. You would just want to be handy with a wrench and drive it alott to sort out the issues. The question for me would be the paint condition since the seller refuses to wash it.

19 years? I hope the dealer flushed everything out, especially the fuel lines. I sure would NOT try to run 19 y/o gas through it...
Forced to quit driving after 3 months? Prison or age?
Beer is also right, that car probably needs paint, if it did not, the dealer would have cleaned it and said "original paint looks like new" in the ad, not we'll let the owner clean it off.
Current bid is 6300. If beer is indeed right, whoever wins may be very unhappy.

Like you, JP?
LOL... the Mrs. is interested but I've got plenty to keep me busy. ;)

I'm sure the dealer took a risk, and he is simply passing it on to the buyer. Personally, I would believe a good wash and detail of the paint would be all it needs.

Overall the car should not scare off potential buyers if they figure flushing and replacing all fluids along with a thorough going over of all the mechanical systems. If the paint needs anything, it would likely be limited to wet-sanding, buffing and possibly clear coat. Certainly nothing that couldn't be factored in the bid. At the current price, one may want to figure another $2-3K and still end up with a new car for far, far less than anything comparable on the market today.

I agree about the paint. If anything, the dust probably helped protect against UV rays thru windows or whatever. My concerns would be, as had been mentioned, fluids, especially fuel, but also anything that could have dry-rotted, tires, air springs, etc. It is without a doubt a HELL of a find, much better than that 2nd gen that was up for sale by some lunatic for the original MSRP a while back.

Honestly, the whole thing reminds me of the beginning of Back to the Future III. :D

If curse you will have to change and flush all fluid systems well. Probably replace a few things here andf there. I just find it strange that the dealer that has it is not washing it.

I don't find it strange. Likely, the car was bought by the dealer at an estate auction or private liquidation as-is, where-is. He may be scared to actually wash it, thinking he may find damage and as such is simply passing the risk to the prospective buyer. He also probably thinks it "authenticates" the story of the 3,000 mile Mark VIII.
