I AM LOCATED NEAR RALEIGH, NC. MY CAR IS REGISTERED, INSURED, AND DRIVEN, NO SITTING UNDER A TREE FOR A YEAR HERE!

I am selling my 1996 Lincoln Mark 8 because I just got a new car. This Southern (rust free) Lincoln only has LOW 108,xxx miles, a clear title, and runs and drives great and FAST. It has a 280 hp 4.6L DOHC V8 motor also used in same year's Mustang Cobra. The motor is very reliable, ready to go another 100K at least (but I'm sure most of y'all on here already knew that).

The Good

-The air ride suspension has been converted to conventional, rides great and will last a long time.
-2 NEW front tires and the rear Kumhos are a month old with 90% tread on them.
-Belts are not new but are not old either, same as right front control arm, same as the battery.
-Oil changed 1000 miles ago.
-NO rust, knocks, leaks, or smoke, hit the gas and this car GOES!
-MINT interior for a 16 y/o car. NO rips, NOT A SINGLE ONE on the leather seats!
-Leather and wood
-Power windows, driver and pass seat, sunroof (does NOT leak), climate control, 10 CD changer in the trunk.
-INTERIOR STILL SMELLS LIKE LEATHER!

The Not So Good

-It is, after all, a 16 year old car, in good condition and with low miles, but 16 years old.
-Only thing mechanically is the left front ball joint just started to go (still very driveable, but LF control arm needs replacing soon)
-Another thing that does not affect the car's performance is the A/C blower has developed a mind of its own. When it works, the A/C is ice cold, but when it decides not to work... you get the idea.

-Cosmetically, the car is about a 7.5 outside due to:
-Dinged driver's door (looks like somebody was bodyslammed against it a couple of times, nothing too bad).
-Cracked tooth in the front grill due to a rock on the highway.
-Passenger door only opens from the inside.
-Inside is a 8 because:
-Driver door panel is not correctly attached, it was like that when I got the car. Never bothered me.
-Power mirrors do not work (wiring issue), but can be adjusted manually.
-Sliding sunroof cover has some scratches, I just keep it open whenever I drive the car.

My pics are in this gallery:

MORE PICS ARE AVAILABLE, JUST ASK.

MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER AND MY MARK VIII CAN BE YOURS! I AM CONSIDERING REPLACING THE CONTROL ARM AND A/C BLOWER MYSELF AND DRIVING THE CAR 2-3 DAYS A WEEK TO KEEP THE MILES DOWN ON MY NEW LEXUS, SO PLEASE DO NOT LOWBALL ME. I DO LOVE DRIVING THIS BUBBLE, JUST NOT AS MUCH AS MY LEXUS, NO OFFENSE.

Price is 2700 OBO as of 6/25/12.

Had some interest and an offer for 2000, but since these sell with higher miles and leaky air suspensions for 3000, I turned it down, I have over 2000 in suspension work, tires, and other replaced parts alone not even counting the cost of car.

And my car is a 7/10 overall, so it's worth more than 2 grand. I'll keep it and start modding it before I take that little! I know it's not a perfect car but DAMN!

Again, I am in central NC, and will gladly consider reasonable offers.

My pretty much PERFECT '97 was just sold for 3k. I really doubt if you are going to get what you think for your 1st Gen Mark with things wrong with it!

If you think different, ya better just start modding right now!

In what world ??
In the Northern states world. Look up cars for sale dot com or auto trader. But, that is what they are ASKING for, what they actually SELL for is another story, so yeah, you got a point.

Bud, I do think different, I am confident I can get close to my price. Yes my car has a couple rough edges, but they are minor and cheap to fix. If I had a blown motor or a bad tranny, then yeah, but a control arm and some cosmetics are hardly big things. I have looked at your thread about your car, and you stated that there are issues coming, so no offense, but I would not call that pretty much perfect. IMHO, unless those issues involve the motor or trans, you could have easily got more than 3 for your car, as long as you asked for more, and in doing so left yourself room to work with come haggle time. Congrats on the sale, though.

Thanks for your opinions, guys. We are all entitled to them, that is part of what makes this country great. I just blew through about $300 of fireworks, so I'm feeling real patriotic right now, lol.

Those "issues" I stated that were coming are all UNKNOWN issues that normally come with age of the vehicle that, at my age, wouldn't want to deal with. As it was, a much younger man bought the car at my "reduced" price of $ 3,000 . I know if I had waited longer I could have gotten my original $3500. As insurance bill came in the mail the same day as my buyer showed up, I feel I still got what I wanted. It was STILL 3 times what I was "offered" as a trade-in on my new VW.

I hope you get what you want for yours! We all wanna keep the value up as high on the Marks as we can.... but it's hard to beat age!

I agree 100%. The Lexus dealer where I got my ES350 offered me 1300 for mine, and the manager who appraised actually wrote "nice, very clean car" on the appraisal sheet! I don't want to know what they would have offered had my car not been clean...

PRICE DROP, 2500 OBO

Had a couple people look at it yesterday, and another 2K offer as well as trade offers for a lifted Tahoe and a 79 5.0 with t-tops. Okay cars, but both need work, if I am gonna start spending money on a toy, I already have a low mile, rust free car I know inside and out, so I'm not trading for projects. My girl loves it and told me if I still have the car on my birthday, she'll get me rims for it, and if this happens, I will go ahead and replace the lf control arm when I am swapping the rims, and tint it out maybe. I most likely will not sell the Mark after seeing it on 5 spoke 20s.

MAKE A REASONABLE OFFER AND IT COULD BE YOURS, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Just flushed the trans and converted it to Mobil 1 Mercon V fluid. Shifts like a new car, smooth and timely. Also, the rear shock mounts started to make a little noise after my trip to the beach, I am buying replacement ones from bud pytko and putting those in the first free day I get after receiving them.

keep going. It seems to me though that you actually don't want to sale the car. I see that a lot from Mark VIII owners actually. It doesn't matter how much you have in suspension repairs. Spent 2k on suspension work? That just brought the blue book up $200. Unfortunately the parts tend to be worth more off the car than they are on it.

What you say regarding parts is absolutely right, and it is true for just about all cars, not just our cars. You never get anywhere close to what you paid for your parts if you sell the car. I had a turbo Lexus IS300 before my Mark VIII, and I could get $1000 more than what stock ones sold for at the time, despite having over 7000 in parts alone. Luckily for me a drunk driver got me pretty much what I wanted for it by running into my car and totaling it. I am already taking a 4 figure loss even if I get my asking price, so anything lower, and I'll just keep it. I sure as hell want to keep it more than I want to sell it for a crackhead price! And if I still have it long enough for my girl to get me rims for it, that'll likely just seal the deal and get it off the selling block.

Speaking of rims, can anyone tell me the wheel offset on our cars? I just don't want spacers or anything. Thanks in advance.

Thanks man! Me and my girl are looking at these, they're not quite 20s but it's a real good price that's also obo. I don't want her dropping a grand on rims when she really doesn't have to, if we can get some rims for $300 and a beach trip for the price of used dubs!

I'm meeting the guy sat or sun, I'll let y'all know how it goes.

SOLD

Didn't buy those rims... I've actually had quite a few hits about the car locally and a $500 deposit on Thursday to hold it till tomorrow since the guy gets paid today. So as long as he does not decide to just give me 500 bucks for nothing, it's SOLD. Taking it out to cross over 109K and get that last drive in it...

Yes, the car now has a new owner... It was a sad day, but I got what I wanted for it without any haggling. Now I have 2500 burning a hole in my pocket... I don't know, take a 2 week beach vacation? Buy a boosted 99 Mitz eclipse spyder? Buy an 02 Yamaha R6? Put the money in savings? (yeah right)
I'll keep y'all posted, if I buy another toy, I will post pics. But unless I find a Mustang, preferably a 5.0, or a z28 for a good price, it will most likely be an import car or bike.
