Heres the deal
Right from the Lincoln Man Himself David Ferguson.
We all have seen many 'Cartier' Lincolns being offered for sale on the internet, magazine, or newspaper want-ads. Be forewarned! Just because a Lincoln has a 'Cartier' clock/chronometer does not necessarily make it a 'Cartier Edition' Lincoln. Since the introduction of the Lincoln Continental Mark III in 1968, Cartier chronometers have been standard feature of the instrument panel cluster on many (but not all) Lincolns. The "Cartier Edition" originally appeared with the 1976 Lincoln Continental Mark IV as one of the Designer Series Marks that signified a fully equipped Mark IV that had a specific color scheme and luxury appointments not available on any other model. (The original Cartier Edition Mark IV had the unique dove-gray color scheme with special roof chrome and special body-side molding not available on other models.) In later models, the "Cartier Edition" was offered in the Town Car and Continental models as well as the Marks as being the high-end fully equipped luxury editions of a specific model year.
