We finally made it!!!! 200,000 miles! We rolled over the big 200k on Saturday 4/26/05.

I picked up my 1993 Mark VIII in December 1996 with 24,500 miles on it. It has, by no means, been a reliable trip to 200k as it took 3-transmissions, 5-engines and a pile of other parts to get here, but we made it!! All of the engines and 2 of the transmissions were under warranty.

Through the years I’ve tried to keep her looking good by painting her, replacing the front seats, replacing the headlights and changing the rims (twice).

She’s always been a fast car, as she’s run 14.3 @ 97 MPH with just a cat-back exhaust.

I never thought I’d keep this car this long?!

I started viewing this site with the predecessor to the predecessor of this site (carcus’s land shark and Mark VIII page) waaay back in 1998 when only a handful of people posted.

Wow!!! What contrast. 3 trannies and 5 engines in 200K VS OEM tranny/engine in 331K and still going strong!

Sounds to me Ken like you were lugging it! Should've been to the track more like Grandma's car! :7 j/k

I can congratulate you on not giving up on the car. I know I would have a long time ago, if I had as many problems as you. But I hope the parts in the car now will last for a while :).

Awsome. At the rate I'm goin' now I should catch up in a little under 5 years....but then again, your car is 5 years older too.

I wish I could say my car went 14.3 with just a catback...but I didn't have that until a few weeks ago.

Last friday we didn't do "as well".
Tiff lost round 1 of street stock

I lost round 2 of street stock, but.. that's DRAG RACING!

After losing round 1, Tiff entered into the Jackpot race and wound up coming in Second place!

Currently she's in third place and I'm trying to hold on to my lead in first place

That's great to hear!

I bought my '95 with 7x,000 miles on it about three years ago. I just turned 132,000 this morning.

New headlights, trans, EATC, rear shocks & mounts, alternator, wiper motor, tires and countless rotors have been my major parts expenditures.

I'll keep it until the motor dies - then I'll find a Gen II to drive into oblivion. }(

Curse Lincoln for having made such an awesome vehicle - I would like to buy a new car, but I just can't find a coupe as roomy, powerful and comfortable as the Mark.

and yes...my car is getting excellent mileage these days:

sorry to hijack...just felt like celebrating WITH you.

My major expenses have been:
tranny w/converter(installed 98+ JMOD tranny/Mach 1 TC)
coil conversion(air ride failed at 60k/10 yrs)
and that's about it. replaced rear shocks when I did coils, slapped on some mufflers, MSD wires...that's about it.

Bought it 7/03 at 51,800.

I take the opportunity whenever I can to thank Jeremi(mad1stgen) for all his help. He has been a great resource for finding me the parts I need, when I need them. Thanks J!

What have you done to the car that it gets such good mileage? I rareely ever got over 400 miles to a tank before the gear install.
