My dad picked up a 2002 Mustang GT with 106k miles.
After 4 days of driving the car, The coolant intake cracked.
The car set for 1 week, I pulled the old intake off and installed a new Typhoon Intake Manifold.
Got the car back together last night. Started the car up and about 20 sec later, the motor started to knock.

I started the car up about 4 more time to find the knocking. It sound like it coming from the bottom of the engine.

The oil looked new and no metal shaving in the oil (yet).

I have no ideal what to do next.

Kind of a hard one but the only thing I can think of is maybe you dropped a socket in the engine?

Hmm.. No specific thoughts on that at all..

Can you narrow down the source any more closely with the use of an automotive stethoscope?

How tough is it to drop the oil pan on one of these?

I used a screwdriver as a stethoscope. Timing chains, valve, and the camshafts sound fine.

Dropping the oil pan is going to suck. Going to have to drop the K-member.

I used the wrong intake manifold gasket.

The intake manifold has a special gasket that I never got.

Have you determined that this was the cause of the ticking??
Late Model Restoration is sending me a new gasket. I'll know more later this week.

I'm going to get a automotive stethoscope and get under the car and listen. I really do hope it's the gasket.
