$3.60

Well last night I fixed my gas leak. I went to the ford dealership in the next town over to get the parts. It was probably the cheapest I have ever walked away from the parts counter, but it only cost me $3.60 nad I bought extra parts!! It took me about 30 min to do. There are 2 O-Rings inside the seal for the fuel filter. One down in the neck and one that sits on top. Replaced both of those, re-assembled and NO LEAK. The evil ford dealership had my car for 4 days and for $88.23, DID NOTHING. I found this out the other night when I removed the inner fender to check for myself.

I have conatcted the dealership already. I spoke with the Service Manger, the sales manager (who I bought the car from) and the General Manager. I requested my money back, simply for work that wasn't done and parts that weren't used (when I took the car apart, I found my Purolator fuel filter still in it after they had charged me $45 for a new one PLUS disposla for the old one!). Basically they all told me it was against their policy, blah, blah, blah. I said, 'ok, FINE'.

This afternoon, I have a meeting with the state attorney generals' office of consumer protection. I'm filing a claim with them and there will be a law suit. I intend to get my money back plus something to cover all of the gas that I have been spreading around New England and all of my time thatr I have wasted messing with this at a shop rate of $65 per hour. If they can charge it, so can I. I am also filing a report with the better Business bureau, which I will post here as my formal review once I get it all written up.

Thanks for everyones help, I wouldn't have had any idea on how to fix this if it wasnt for the LOD.!

Well, I guess the good news is that it's fixed and done properly.

Doesn't seem like dealers care to admit to faulty work, must be part of their code.

Looks like you're doing all the right things in disputing the bill. If you paid via credit card, you can most likely dispute the charge following the card issuer's rules. Those rules should be on the mostly recent monthly statment or mailed out periodically to you. You can probably call for customer assistance if needed. You shouldn't have to pay the bill until you get a resolution, one way or the other. Hope you used plastic.

Take care

Did they admit to NOT doing the work, or do they still insist that the work was done? What is their reason for NOT refunding your money? What is their reason for NOT doing the work? What did the Serv. Mgr tell you?

No Blah, Blah, Blah ... Answers, please.

First of all, I used a check and this was almost 3 weeks ago, so no dice there.

Second of all, they still maintain that the work was done and done properly. Their reason for not refunding my money was that it was aginst their policy, which is to not return payment without inspection by their own service department. The service manager told me to go screw myself basically. The sales manager told me he would see what he could do, but the service department is a completely different entity (they are even in different buildings) and that he really doesnt have too much pull. The GM said that he 'was sorry that I wasn't completely satisfied' and that 'that is their main goal.' They would have to look at the car. I said to him that he would find the word done correctly even if he did get to look at it, because I took the time to think about the situaction and do it completely. I told him that my car was never comming anywhere near their dealership ever again. This is the third time that their service has been faulty or inadequate just on my vehicle.

Should have gone right to the bank, paid your $20.00 fee & stopped payment on the check! Then sent a letter to the dealership's owner, registered mail, that he/she has to sign for, personally, with a complete explanation of why you did that.

no use, the check was deposited like two days after and I hadnt driven the car for those two days, so I had no real way of even realizing the leak until it was too late.

And im sure he will be getting plenty of stuff via registered mail. Probably some court orders and some fines and maybe some stuff from the better business buereau

I once worked for a sleezy dealer like that. I sold a Dodge Charger to a young guy like 28 or so, and he wanted it undercoated. I made out the new car get ready checking off U/Coat. Next day, my boss comes over to me and says (well, I can't curse on here) but it's was like to the effect that he bought the car too cheap and there's no money it it, actually we are losing $34.00 on the sale & then I have to pay you a Spiff ($50.00) (Me, Sandy) and he ain't gettin' no U/coating & YOU (me Sandy) tell him it's on there.

So, kid comes in, nice kid - polite, and I tell him it's all ready to go. He asks about the undercoat. I tell him "Oh yes, we did it it's on there" ~ So, he goes & looks and of course it's not & he sees that, and we are charging him $85.00 for it. So, the guy don't take the car & walks. Then boss comes out & opens big major mouth on me, that I handled it wrong! So, we have words & he fires me! Now, I had allready delivered 3 cars that week. I come back on Friday for my check. He chases me out and tells me where to go to get my check!!!!! (Very Hot Place):) Refuses to pay me.
What he did not know was that my Dad was a lawyer. I doubled my commissions on every one of the 3 deals I delivered, and we sued for that. I got every penny I sued for + my Dad's attorney fees! It felt so good!
I hope you are able to get that good feeling herein. I praise & stand behind every good dealer & I hate the rotten apples MORE than you, because THEY are the ones that give the good ones a bad name!

I hope you don't get a million dollar bill from the EPA for admittedly spilling toxic fuel all over the environment. You may want to be careful how you phrase that. Big Bro's always lookin' for a place to stick it in.

Gladstone Ford can have the Million dollar fine for cause of their negligence. Just think if I was some old lady that zero knowledge of cars, never mind knowing how to fix them. I'd be driving around right now with gas blowing all over my exhaust system. Negligence and falsification....chumps....

Have you contacted Ford Motor Co. Directly and complained?

Ford will get in the middle sometimes just to protect they're image. They did it for me on a similar incident.

It can work. I did it myself once on my mustang. A dealership was replacing the tie rods on a warranty fix, but said warranty didnt pay for an alignment and I ahd to pay for it myself. So I wrote the check, called FMC Service, and confirmed that The dealership would ahve been paid by them automatically for the alignment, so effectively they were trying to double bill me. I stopped payment on the check, for the ENTIRE amount ( I had other stuff done too) and told the dealership to sue me, as I thought they're fruad was a pretty good defense.

FMC sent me a letter apologizing, and for a certificate for $100 of free service for any dealership. I then got a letter from the dealership owner, also apologizing, stating that wasnt policy, blah blah, and returning my check, stating there would be no further bill.
