550+rwhp too much for built engine

I think this is the first time I have seen a cast crank break. None-the-less it is why you use a steel crank if you plan on making some power.

I was in the car with John driving and it all came apart in 1st gear at 7000rpm. I thought it was a rod but noticed it never windowed the block, which is really unusual. Below are the suprising pictures that we took this week. This car was a solid 10 second car.

This is why the supercharger off of this car is up for sale.

Eesh, and I thought my car had problems!

What does the rest of the bottom end consist of? All stock stuff still?

Was this an old crank re-used for the build ?

Do you think 7k might have more to do with this damage than the RWHP level ?

Well you have popped more engines than anyone I know... Don't you think it is time for a "safe tune"?

I beam rods with ARP 2000 bolts, Diamond pistons, all ARP fasteners. This had nothing to do with a tune. It was the power that broke this crank combined with 7000 rpm's. If you aren't breaking stuff you are not going fast enough.

550rwhp in a Mark VIII and plus that big T-Trim you can safely bet that motor was making well above 700 at the crank (spinning the blower, IRS, auto tranny etc).

Nice one Joe. I can't say I have ever seen one that bad until now.
Did you break it at the track?
