I'm looking for a 8.8 ring gear set, 2.73 ratio. IF anyone has one, let me know. Prefer as low mileage as possible. PM me with what you have. Thanks

Ha! No speed record. Just wanting to see how high I can get the MPG. If high enough, I may get rid of my other DD. My drive to work is 93 miles each way, all highway.

I was thinking of doing the same. :)

I just recently got a stock 307 to replace my CE 327.

For daily driving, I actually like the "feel" of the 307 better.

Right now I get between 26 and 27 while @ 70mph. I'm trying to get that up to 29/30.
Ironically, that's about the fuel mileage of most new 6 cylinder cars today.

I vaguely remember someone doing this in the past but I don't recall what the actual mileage improvement was. I would suspect a couple mpg gain at least.

I have a lead on a set, but I need to find out if I have a 7 or 8 tooth drive gear. Unfortunately, the cobra has a dead battery and is being charged right now. Then I put the Mark on the lift and pull the VSS. I think it needs a new o-ring anyway.

4 am was impressive, but then I saw this: "Last edited by Be2Lose at 6:50 am"

Rough night?

Whew. Good, good. I forgot this thing compensates for time zone. Glad to hear all is well, even if you are keeping strange hours.

I dont' know how accurate the average mpg info is, but tonight going to work It was anywhere from 27.5 to 29. When I finish the tank, I'll calculate it manually.
Oh, I almost forgot. I pulled the vss and changed the o-ring. It was definately leaking. I have a 17 tooth green driven gear, which indicates a 7 tooth drive gear. Unfortunately I would need a 15 tooth drive gear to make it work, and they don't make one. Looks like I'll have to buy one of those electronic adjusters.

Just wanted to update this. While driving to work tonight, I kept my speed to 65mph. Over a 93 mile drive, I averaged around 28.4 mpg. I used 3.2 gallons. Not bad for a V8.

28.4?!?? damn... my average is 19.9 all stock, stock tune... somehow the same as I was getting with 4.10 gears and a tune to match.

We should have a discussion thread on this... are you using the 2.73 gears now? how drivable is it. I've owned a ton of underpowered cars I can't imagine a v8 through 2.73 gears being terrible... not like my 89 F150,300I6,C6,2.73 Rear.
