Hope a few guys here remember me... Since I stopped being active in the Mark VIII communities I've almost completed by career change to Mechanical Engineering and will start with BP in late June. I've had two kids, a beautiful daughter who is now 2 and a new son born just a week ago. The Mark has been sitting for too long and needs a new owner that can put time into restoring it to it's full potential.

Here are the details:

93 Lincoln Mark VIII (black on black) located north of Houston, TX.

The bad:
============================
-240k miles very small tapping (Probably a bad lifter spring)
-One broken lug on rear
-bad idle air control valve
-Very broken windshield (5" diameter hole but covered, not drivable because of this)
-A/C leaks (works for some time after charging)
-Stereo has short but works at times
-Has been sitting for some time with monthly start-ups
-Paint is very poor on the entire top side
-Passenger seat track does not move (Have extra seat track)

The good (prices of parts when new/now):
============================
-Interior is in great shape with very little wear/cracking of the seats
-Last ran a 13.9 at the track (Engine still very strong)
-3.73 Cobra rear differential (750/200)
-Built transmission to Jerry's specs for 400 HP with Jerry on the -phone to the mechanic and owner. (2000/750)
-Transmission cooler (50/20)
-Custom mandrel bent 2 1/2" exhaust system with X Pipe configuration (700/200)
-96 LSC rear bumper cover to fit exhaust tips
-96 Mustang Cobra timing adjuster (200/100)
-Custom air ride switchs to lower car
-Custom subframe connectors (entire system) (1000/500)
-Modified air intake
-Custom one of a kind alluminum grill (good for 400/400)
-2 Sets of chrome rims (some cracking but can be refinished) (extra set 500/200)
-Programable chip and extra computer (not installed) (350/100)
-Extra A/C controller with strong buttons
=============================
Total of custom parts (5650/2470)

As you can see, it needs some work, but has lots of parts, a few that are one of a kind and you can not get anywhere else.

The price if firm at this time. I might be interested in parting the car later if not sold, but I'd hate for it to come to that and don't have much time to do such a thing right now.

Give me a shout if you're interested.

The custom Grille is worth 500.00.

The subframe braces built by recently departed JL are worth 500.00 IMHO.
The rear end is worth more than half of what you are offering.

Mike was prepared for "low ball offers", but doubtful he will cave to a 500 dollar offer though.

For many who are not familiar with Mike or this car.
Back in the '99-2000 years this car was one of the FEW if not THE ONLY that ran in the 13s with only "gears and exhaust", it was a early 93 factory freak that actually "slowed down" when a chip was installed.

To Mike,
Stop getting beat up about this car on the various message boards.

Pull the good parts and stick em on ebay, you'll easily get the money your looking for.

had you begun this process rather than posting a for sale ad, you would likely have the money you wanted for the car.

I hate to see that car parted out, but I also hate to see you and the car getting picked apart publicly on these message boards.

Sorry for not replying... Thought this thing had been set to email me with replies....

As Tommy (XLRVIII) mentioned, the Grill, Subframe, posi 3.73 rear end, 93 drive shaft, and exhaust are likely to get me close to $1500 as parts.

I don't have the time right now going to school, working, raising a 2 year old and a new baby to part out the car though.

$500 with my list of good parts. I'll keep my comments to myself.

Considering the history of that car and it's owners contribution to the mark 8 community as a whole (dating back to pre'99) someone should get the car and just "rebuild/restore humpty dumpty" to its former glory.
^IMHO
I agree with this. The thought of my picking it up for a new year-round car definitely crossed my mind, but it seems that this car deserves better.

Maybe Sleeper needs a new sleeper. :D

but it seems that this car deserves better.
While my heart agrees with you here, my brain knows that Mike would rather the car go to minnysoda and be driven, than to be butchered for it's parts..or allowed to further suffer the tolls of time by sitting.

I'll admit I am fairly biased towards this car and it's owner, but it really pains me to see him and or the car get raked over the coals on the various message boards. Which really isn't happening here on LOD.

My frustration expressed in this thread, really isn't directed at the members of this board, but more at the internet as a whole.

I do apologize.

Mike, I hate to see you sell your Mark, but life does get in the way. I too sold my 93 Mark, can't say i miss the headlights:), but I did miss the car. Just last year bought a 98 with only 60K. Must say the change to HID lights was a good idea!

Best of luck to you and your growing family.

That's $300 out of the car. For some reason the prices decrease when it's in the car. :/ Keep on trying though. Somebody will snatch this car up when they realize how many parts it has and what it's true value is.

FYI. Parted out the car and got my $2500 easy...

One last part for sale, may be headed for ebay...

One 93-96 custom aluminum grill. Screw that plastic....

Well, I'm sorry to hear that this car didn't find a new home as a complete unit, but pleased to hear it is indeed living on.

Thanks for the update.
