The car was a hand me down. Reliable strong car but recently has been leaking what i assume is trans fluid. Driver side. No operational issues just leaving a mess on my driveway any ideas

Transmission fluid is dyed red to help identify it, so if this fluid is red (and smells like it, or if you can't tell put down cardboard). Where on the drivers side? Up front around the radiator, under the engine, between the front tires, after the engine around the transmission, or after the transmission?
If at the radiator then it can be where the lines enter the radiator. If around the front of the engine might also be power steering pump, Between front tires might be power steering hoses. Around engine might be front seal (if it is coming out of the bell housing), around transmission it can be the shift shaft, pan, overfilled and coming out the vent, the dipstick (which is on passenger side though), after transmission might be the tailhousing or the output shaft.

The Dipstick is on the passenger side... Well at least on mine. It shouldn't be too hard to replace. One bolt on the head holding it in and it just pops right out.

LOL... let's just say it's easier to 'pop out' than to 'pop in'.
