I was driving around in my bone stock '93 MK8 last night and pulled up next to some old Dodge, looked to be early 70s. It obviously had some work done to it.. jacked up rear end, really wide tires, and a mean sounding V8 with a loud exhaust and lumpy idle.
I took off a little harder than usual, and I heard the Dodge open up and it started pulling ahead. So I gunned it and took off. Had about a half a car length on him when I let up at 50 (45 mph limit).
At the next light the guy rolled down his window, gave me a completely dumbfounded look, and yelled "What kind of car is THAT?!" He was pretty surprised to learn it's a Lincoln. Guess if I drove a car like that and didn't know any better, I'd be surprised to see some barge with 20 pounds of chrome and a spare tire hump in the trunk take off past me too. I love sleepers.
