95 egr

My wifes 95, 2 weeks after passing smog test, pops CEL light. I hook up my Innova obd 1 -2, and it doesn't work. so I do the jumper wire thing, and up pops 337= EGR valve. Change egr valve= drop the engine. Sent tester to innova, and they said nothing wrong, but it works when I got it back. Pops same code, but tells me it's the DPFE, air diverter. Changed it (without dropping engine), and cel light has gone away, and no codes to be found. That tester saved me a lot of $$. For you guys that don't know the Gen 1, these parts are between the rear of the engine, and the firewall. I was happy to cross that one off of the list.

I'm impressed by anyone who casually drops their engine to swap out a small part..

I wrote to get tips on how to change egr valve. Drop the engine was the most. Lined up Bruce to do it. I still have a few things for Bruce to help me with. Looking forward to the trip to go see Bruce.

Since I have headers I just deleted mine, but I know how much of a pain it is to get. I had my K member and exhaust out of the way and still had a hard time removing it.

It wasn't to bad with the hood still on. Putting all the wiper stuff back took more time, all the stuff was in the trunk for a couple of weeks, and of course I forgot how it went back on. Followed the instructions in the manual, but they didn't mention to plug the motor back in. ha ha on me.
