95 Mark VIII

I can't stand my saturn anymore (after only 3 months) it is too small and very uncomfortable on long trips so I started looking for another mark viii, i really wanted a 96 lsc but when i was driving around logansport i found a white 95 base for sale at a local gm dealer. it has 49,000 miles with the chrome directionals and moonroof. it also has cassette with the cd changer and jbl sound the rear window seal is bubbled like i read so much about and the passenger door trim (the black area right behind the door window) is messed up a little bit and I have seen the front end slammed a couple of times (I don't know if they have fixed it or not but i haven't seen it that way for about a month) they are asking 9,000 for it...they have it sitting up by the building where they tend to park cars before they take them to the auction. I really want this car but i want to know what to offer them when i go look at it. i haven't driven it yet, that is planned for when i get up this afternoon (i work the grave yard shift so i unfortunately sleep during the day ) anyway any suggestions on what i should offer?? I'm thinking about seeing if they will take the saturn and the truck and call it even like another dealer did when i traded my other mark in on the saturn thanks for any suggestions have a great day! hope the weather is nice and sunny where ever you are!!!

Hey man, I wouldn't pay $9K for it unless it was in perfect condition. Nor would I trade in two cars for it just because I know there are better deals out there. I just picked up my mark for a pretty decent price (for the condition it's in), but when I was looking I seen some good deals going on these cars. There was a 98 LSC sitting at a dealership w/ only 50K miles that they wanted $11K for. I also seen some older 8's w/slighty higher milage (93,94,95's) going for around $3500.00+. If I were you I would just go up there and talk to the salesman and offer a number (maybe $6500.00) and negotiate from there. Then again, I'm still a newbie with these cars so maybe these cars are just cheaper around my area or something? Anyway... good luck and I hope I helped you out a little.

You can go to www.kbb.com fill in the blanks and get the wholesale and retail values for the car. I would select the "fair" option under conditions. When you find the wholesale value offer 10% over that. Also check values of vehicles you're going to trade in while you're there.

It really depends on what part of the country you are in. In WA/OR/CA/AZ, prices remain pretty high.

Most of the cars out here have zero rust and you can still read the parts tags attached to the brake and fuel lines!

In Oregon, it's tough to find a '93 for less than $5000.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I did the kbb.com thing this morning before i went to bed, it said that it was worth a little over 7,000 (private party in fair condition) and a little over 10,000 retail. for some reason if you can find a fairly decent mark viii around here you're gonna end up spending a lot for it, i got my 93 last summer for 7,500 and it had 54,000 miles on it and in nearly perfect condition...when i went to trade it in i still got a little over 6,000 out of it. mainly cuz i went back to the same dealership and they already had a buyer. i think i'll ask if they'll take 6500 and go from there... i just hope they don't get offended from it. but if they are going to take it to the auction...chances are they will get more out of it for 6500 than out of an auction

i bought my youngest son a 94 for 1800.00 all it needed was a belt and tensioner.

yeah it sounds like all you are actually buying is a lot of repair bills. There are a ton of them out there, just keep looking. Hell, I spent 3 months looking for the right one.

Well, I went up to look at it and it was gone I did talk to a salesman who told me the air ride had been fixed by the local lincoln dealership I guess it was sold yesterday which is why it was up by the building... oh well....maybe I'll find a 96 lsc like i want anyway thanks guys!
