so last night , i tried to start my 95 town car

cranked and cranked .... checked fuel pump relay good

checked fuel pump fuse good.

opened the plenum and squirted starting fluid in.

nary a cough (this fired it right up when relay was bad earlier)....

instru lights look the same as always ....

i guess next test would be the coil.... any ideas?

up to today this is a daily driver

searched , but couldnt find the crank pos sensor(s).

unplugged a sensor (not it) near where it should be , and then unplugged both coils, and plugged them back in...

started right up.

now ive got a code to read , and a pic of the replacement sensor..... i'll have to hunt it down.

thank you

the code turned out to be an egr valve.....

im thinking that the frost got up inside a coil pack wiring connector (one has a broken clip)

i lithium greased the connection....

wouldnt a bad crank position sensor = a very rough / barely running engine?

mine runs fine , except this one time not starting (has started fine since)

OCCUPY LoD :)
The crank sensor controls the ignition, that's why it didn't fire up when you sprayed starting fluid. Sounds like you covered the basics good so good job. The common crank sensor failure is NOT the sensor itself, it's the corrosion inside the connector on the pins. When you unplug and plug back in the sensor, it cleans off the pins and gives you a good connection.

You may have found it, unplugged/plugged it without realizing.
