ok i have had this intake setting in my garage for about a year now and im getting tired of looking at it on the shelf. so its going on the car but i have a few questions. all i have right now is the bare intake it did not even come with the bolts that hold the 2 parts together. so what all do i need to make this fit onto my car? i do have the cobra IMRC's they came with the intake. do i use the cobra units or keep the stock mark ones? i know i need a cobra throttle body right? what else do i need? i have heard there are hood clearance problems with the stock gen 1 hood what must i do to solve these problems?

Im not sure if you can run the stock fuel rails on the car but if you cant, you will need to redo your fuel lines, from the filter and the return line around there. You will need a cobra throttle body, the bolts of course and cobra imrc's. I'm not really sure about running the imrcs since i just deleted them. You will also need a cobra throttle cable and probably cruise cable. You'll need an air intake for as well. I switched out the tps and iac and you will need the connector pigtails for those two also. The intake is hitting my hood even with the supports cut out of the bottom. I'm still not sure how thats going to be resolved. you might have to change out the egr tubing as well but once again im not positive about that because i deleted it. I rewired the harness to go behind the manifold and redid the vacuum line setup as well. I think thats about it. I have a few pictures if you need them. I'm not sure how much they will help though.

From the hundreds of search results I've found on this site, you have to re-do the fuel lines and linkage also. Try searching. :D

Is the hood been notched yet? Helped me. This was a rough fit. Later on once this hood separated into two parts going about 110mph I got another hood and used a dremel to cut the openings really neat. Depending on the area you can gain almost an inch but usually a half an inch.

Your intake is an entirely different design and doesn't apply to installing a b headed intake on a 1st gen car. The clearances are totally different.

You'll need to shim the k-member 1/2", remove the hood liner, cut the bracing out, or mill the top hat on the intake.

You can use 2nd gen rails on a 1st gen car with the cobra intake. Just get a set from a junk car, delete the egr or modify it, and run the 2nd gen lines from fenderwell area. It's almost a direct fit.

Ya, I was told I would "HAVE" to shim the k-member and did not. Thats all I was getting at.

Bought time you start providing information on here Jeremy! You're brain has such a wealth of knowledge.....but maybe you don't want people copying you. I don't know. :D

Haha, I am just too busy with my other vehicles right now ;)

Unity,
In order to avoid choping up the hood, you could've shimmed the k-member which would've been a more logical way of doing things IMO. You could've probably left
the hood liner in place as well.

With a B headed intake, you have to do a lot more cutting though if you don't machine the hat.

so all i have to do is shim the k-member with?? would just a few washers work on each bolt? and shave off the fins on the top of the intake right? as far as the IMRC's go do i use the cobra ones or the stock mark ones?

then i need a cobra thorttle cable, cable bracket, and TPS right? it looks like i can use the IAC from the mark intake or is that different too? as far as EGR goes i can make a plate for the intake side what what have yal done for the exhaust side? is it a common thread so i can buy a cap for it at a local hardware store ro do i need to the the nut off of the tube and weld the hole up?

You have to use cobra imrcs. the mark ones have two circle ports on the top where they bolt to the manifold while the cobra imrcs keep the square port/circle port design from the head throughout their shape. i got a different iac because my mark iac was the whole reason for everything that was done but the mark iac electrical plug ill stick straight up if plugged onto the cobra lid once again dealing with hood clearance issuses and what nots. i just cross threaded a bolt laying around in my garage for the exhaust side for the egr and welded it shut. here is a picture of the cobra imrcs sitting on a bare motor..
